Im torn between the 2020 Kawasaki Vulcan S, and the Harley street 500.

Although the Harley street looks kinda small and Im quite large, which is why im drawn towards the Kawasaki.

Of course there is the Yamaha V-Star, which looks a bit dated.

So its basically Kawasaki Vulcan vs. Harley Street vs. Yamaha V-star

Im new to cruisers so please feel free to give me some ideas

I’d get the Vulcan over a HD street any day of the week. Get lots more for your money. I’ve had a Vulcan before and they’re a well made bike

Another vote for the Vulcan, test ride of each will make the decision easier though 👍

The market is not "Bristling" with 650cc cruisers.
In fact the term is almost an Oxymoron.
Not to worry, there are good 650's out there.
How about a Kawasaki W650? from not too long ago if you can find one.
Wifey had one and it was a blast to ride.
You are going to get bored with your 650cc cruiser very quickly if you find one.

I just checked prices of the Kwaka Vulcan s 650, & I same price range as the new Royal Enfield 650 twin, they have a good warranty & are proving very reliable. I have quite a few friends that now have them & they all tell me how good they are. S&S also make a line of performance parts for these bikes. they are Lerner Aproved & can be rated in performance after you get full licence if you want. But my friends all say they go well 7 are a great ride for the money as they come. look British too. one mate got slip on mufflers that look same as old Triumphs $180 a pair and improve the sound.
good luck what ever way you go.

Gotta test ride but the Royal Enfield suggested by Krash certainly has more street cred.

if you were thinking of a street 500, there is no '21 model, so there is only whats left of a second hand one

Whatever is the cheapest to repair is what I would go with.

Ole mate has taken purchase of Royal Enfield a couple of weeks a go. He is a Harley man from when he bought his 74 in err 74 , and still has, plus Husberg 7wat ever i rode, which wanted ta wheel stand in 4th fucken gear, plus KTM  x 4 of now this discerning person, has gone Egyptian, mo home work Watson.
Sounds like they ok, but I mean cut and shut the rear end , add solo seat, and new exhausts plus inserts for front suspension, and plus , that's why he is my dear mate..
    Say no more.

Got 2 mates with Enfields both have had gearbox issues.
The old V-Star 650 is boring but reliable as the day is long. That would be my choice. Plenty of options to customise it if you wish.
Street 500 looks like a kicked in piss trough.

I would not normally buy a bike made in India, and would have nothing to do with the past bunch of RE offering's, or the new Himalaya as bit of a slug.

but the new the new RE 650 twins proving to be good, I know around 10 owners of new RE 650's a few have fitted S&S bits & one of them run's in the 11's quarter mile reliable. no one mentioned gear box's breaking on there 650 RE's to me, but a young mate in Sydney contacted me his 2018 big twin Haleys's 6 speed box broke & asked me who could fix it. in other words, everything has it's problems nothing is perfect, but if you can increase that little 650 twin to ( I think one friend said there's is 950 ) & do a quarter mile time in the 11's, your going pretty good from a bike with good warranty & ride away price $10k or less. I've never ridden one, but have been offered test rides, but as yet never tried but I respect all the long time Harley riders I know who now are riding RE 650
