Gidday & Happy New Year all!

My Name is Pete, I'm 37 and hail from Central Victoria.
Had a few bikes over the years, but only 2 HDs - an brand new '09 XL1200C, and I now have an 02 FLHTCUI Grandpa Glide, which I am riding the arse off of. Thinking of getting another as a bar hopper for when I'm not 2 up/project like another 1200 sporty, an FXR or an EVO Dyna.
Been reading here for a while and looks like heaps of healthy banter and good tech without the BS you read on "Social Media" pages.
Thanks and look forward to being an active user.

    Pete

Welcome - you may get a bit of BS (more tongue in cheek) here but not too much.

Sounds a good idea getting a 1200 sporty, an FXR or an EVO Dyna. All great bikes but starting to get a bit harder to find as people as starting to realise what good bikes they are.

Welcome up. Can’t go wrong with a tourer. That’s a beauty. I can even excuse it not being black.

Absolutely, I got rid of the sporty because I was way too big for it, but Jeez it was a fun thing. I guess a Dyna or FXR really isn't much bigger.
Will have to get out there and do some test rides me thinks. Like the idea of something a bit lighter & quicker for the twisties every now and then (although the Ultra surprised me with how agile it is)

You'll enjoy the FXR, just be prepared for normal maintenance on a 30yr old bike. Mine cop a hiding and are still going strong.

I'd give an Evo Dyna a miss personally. I'd go and early twin cam Dyna though.

Cheers, I reckon that is what I will slowly look for. I'll keep my eyes peeled for something that hasn't been too bastardised (as much as possible).
I kind of want the EVO experience, the ultra is a cammer so no problem with twinks in my eyes. Understand on the maintenance side.

    Welcome Pete,
Had my Evo Dyna about 16 years now - one of the most reliable & fun bikes I have ever owned.
Ask a dozen blokes which bike is best and......

In that instance, go the FXR. Better chassis.

Will start looking for one casually, couple of other projects to get out of the way first, as well as our 130yo miners cottage

Classic picture, Valiant in the driveway and a tow truck parked in the street ready to recover it. Ahhh, just the way I remember them.

    Welcome to the madhouse Pete.

Haha, that pic was when I dragged it out of the shed it had been sitting in for 15 years.

    Welcome Pete,

No doubt you've got plenty of people knocking on your door trying to get hold of one of those Valiants.

    Cheers Jay Dee

They've been well tucked away in My parents Hay shed, finally got my new shed up so will be moving them up here from Melb in the next couple of months once I am better set up. The VG has a fresh drivetrain, charger is a basketcase and been sitting since 2011.
