Check engine light mystery.

This one is really odd, or maybe not to some of you. My check engine light comes on at the exact same spot every time. No matter how many k’s I’ve done in between crossing this spot. The code is for a low turbo boost and the car is a Freelander 2. The spot where it happens is on a bridge with an electric rail line below it. Light comes on going both ways. I’ve never heard of environmental causes for a check engine light tripping, can this happen? Oh and the car drives perfectly no sign of a low boost.

That's just weird, reckon you gotta join a Freelander Forum and ask them.

Wouldn't surprise me in today's electronic world. Old man had a Jeep Cherokee that wouldn't unlock at his local shopping center. This would happen most of the time and then occasionally all would be good. Took about 6 months of investigating by him and the Jeep dealer. Turned out to be the local phone tower in the corner of the shopping center car park. Thing would be sending out a certain frequency at times that would jam his remote. Fixed the problem by parking in a different part of the car park. My guess would be the electric line causing the computer to throw up the error.

Yeh Bones. That’s what I’m leaning towards. One of the sensors is failing Radiation Immunity, maybe because of age and it’s on the way out. I think it’s going to be a process of elimination unfortunately.

electrical interference does all sorts of strange things

back in the early 90's i had put an electronic dizzy conversion into my car and the train level crossing on Cramer st preston for some reason the car would cut out when going past it. Thought it was a one off however happened a few more times at the same spot so made sure to avoid it just incase i got stuck on the tracks !

a mate of mine was a mechanic at the alcoa point henty ,geelong, smelter and if the petrol powered f/lifts got to close to the pot line, the ignition would collapse due to the massive magnetic field present and they had to be towed away to be restarted, this environment had a huge impact on peoples health as well as f/lifts. [ i'm relating to over 40 years ago ]

I was playing baseball in Canberra in 2003, I had a '99 XR6 that gave me the fright, drove up to the Telecom tower on (i think) Black Mountain, the temp gauge shot up, the electronics crazed out and the central locking failed, I done the tourist visit and thought it will have cooled to go back to the hotel, had to manually do everything, the drive down the mount was hoping this didn't cost to much, but it all come good, the electromagnetic effect from the tower was the culprit
best shit I had in a couple weeks

I'd guess there is a transformer half way across the bridge SteveF

I got aluminium foil and glued it into my road king side cover over the ecu and it never happened again??? I dunno where the ecu is mounted on different model  bikes but a bit of RF shielding would help. maybe even on your car???
Or if you like a bit of a XXXX can?

I use the aluminium foil in the lining of my helmet. That way the CIA satellites can't detect where I'm riding or read my thoughts.

Getting off topic a bit here but this reminds me of an incident we had when growing up in high school.

My cousin came home from school one day and told his mum that his mate had got his girlfriend pregnant. When his mum inquired about safe sex and the "talk " that they had about this. My cousin replied that his mate thought it would be OK as he had used the Glad Wrap from his lunch as a condom. Apparently the look on his mum's face was not a good one. He later told me that the next day and till the day he finished school his lunch was wrapped in alfoil.

    Sorry to get off subject...

    Cheers

My bike had the speedometer and dash lights stop working intermittently, I would look down and see 0kmh.
Stop bike and restart all is good again. It was the mobile phone sitting  on top of the tank I think or maybe a nearby tower , or both.???
Yep! Its electromagnetic radiation and it can affect electronic devices if strong enough. Turn ya phone off in the hospital, plane etc
