The reason for the decking was because the golden canes got under the existing slab cracking it along with the tiles and lifting it around 2 inches. Canes now gone so cheaper to deck it than jackhammer it all up and end up with what we started with.

There was two slabs, the first was the pool itself with a expansion gap with the walkway slab between the pool and the house. The canes root system got inbetween the the two slabs and lifted it out of the ground by around 40mm in the process breaking afew tiles. The canes were planted 20yrs ago and would have been approx 6-8 m tall

It was used 16 years ago and holding quite well I have just drilled out repluged then drilled and reutached all the safety wire brackets. Then just recorked the gaps were it had pulled away. I would guess it’s to stop the water running down the walls.

I suggest you look at Soapy"s paving job in the mower thread.

Decking starts Monday, weather permitting as its pissing down here, went with Trex Spiced Rum.

Geez i do have a big block and other than the odd python coming in for a quick look, and a stray bat or two, never imagined looking at the native wildlife on the way to have a dip. Have you ever considered the advertising industry...

Deck worked out very well. Red hot in the middle of summer as expected.
