Steelo being a golf nut, and understanding grass is a big deal

My guess is that mower will cut to close for a back yard lawn unless you have had it steam rolled flat
I could be wrong just my 2 cents worth
Ps you would make a great journalist, as reading your post is like reeding a professional news article

Agree he can write a tale, tell a joke and has a quirky sense of humour. We don’t want to give him a big head though. Gotta bring him back to ground level now and hang some shit on him. I’ll start first. He’s got a feminine choice in dogs

    And looks shit in drag

I am actually inclined to think you are right about the lawn BD.
I did test it on some heavy duty grass at Goolwa and it worked great but the stuff home in the back yard is so thin and fine! I'm afraid I'll rip it all up.
I got my over silicone encased belts onto the flap sander (not what you're thinking you rude buggers) today and cleaned off all the excess sealant. They are more like originals now and should slip more on the pulleys.
Rather than risk my own lawn for a test drive, I'm going to wheel her down the road and pick the worst most overgrown footpath lawn and offer to mow it for the resident (if I can get past the car bodies and old sofas in the front yard)
If it turns to shit, who'll know? I should be able to run home before they can put down the bottle of Jack Daniels and look out the front when they can't hear the mower.
Watched a couple videos on rebuilding and restoring those old B&S engines.
Rick, post pics of the Scott Bonnar.

My grandad had a scott bonner, only used it on his front lawn, NOBODY was allowed to touch that mower, some weeks it would be stripes, sometimes squares and others diamonds, tricky shit, he was at war with grubs a lot, you relate to that steelo or you just dangling ya toes in :)

the bricks are there so when I had a DE pool filter so when I would flush it, would not dig into the lawn

From memory I think theses mowers will not cut high grass, and are designed for cutting 1 or 2 mm only
You may just 'rip the top of it' steelo, something you would do quite often no doubt

That'll be a great project RK.
More spares / info for that model than mine. Rotate the air cleaner so the fat bit is against the engine. That way you can get to fuel filler. Get it running, use it for a while until you are comfortable with it, then do the painting, heavy restoration etc

Just dangling the toes GM. For 2 years that I've been at this address, the missus and I got down on hands and knees pulled out every weed and different type grass which sprang up on the back lawn. Apart from being a bit sparce, (the type of grass) it's even, green, consistent and doesn't use a lot of water. Dogs like it. If they go to the park, I don't know what the council uses but they're licking their feet all night.

Thanks for interest Bruce and Binnsy.
Just had a look at the bottom flat blade. Looks OK. I adjusted it up against the rotating blade and it touches the whole way along (even though on a strict diet of BD's hammers)
Fitted an oversized catcher so waiting to get clear and check out the neighbours lawn

    Steelo,

You could just let loose all those guinea pigs and let them eat the grass. OH no, that's right they are all blind cause their eyes fell out when you picked them up by their tails...

    Cheers

    Wade

PS Might see you at Meadows today after all.

Sorry to hear about your dog rk. It’s always a loss. I’m sure it’s something councils spray. Many friends report their dogs do the same thing. Can’t just be the type of grass. It’s all that generic cooch. We tried sprays to make it unpleasant for them to lick their feet but whatever was irritating them was stronger. So we are lucky. They just run around the yard.
