    Hi All,
Purchasing a new Iron 883 early next year. Have done a little research, was wondering everyone's thoughts on 1200cc conversion kits. I am not chasing huge horsepower numbers, just enough to have a little fun, not get bored of the 883cc and be able to take off when needed etc. Was wondering if anyone has used any, and any feedback on any of these.
I'm looking at 3, in my order of preference so far:
    1. Hammer Performance 1275cc
    2. Screamin Eagle 1200cc
    3. S&S Cycles cc
Interested to hear your thoughts, Thanks heaps.

Bad timing mate. We’ve just spent a week with a troll doing exactly the same thing. (Unless it’s you under a new name) Why don’t you do some research even use the search function here and come back to us with your advice.

i dont know sporties personally [ wouldnt mind one though].what is the price difference between an 883 and a 1200 ? would it be easier to get a 1200 and add a stage 1 from the start, you would probably got to a stage 1 no matter what you buy.just thinking of value for money in the long term.

Bruce. You are a true gentleman. That’s your problem.
    It’s going to be
    1. Show us a picture of the bike
    2 copy of purchase
    3 copy of drivers licence
4 Picture of you with dealer or previous owner at changeover
I mean seriously. What has it come to?
Hasn’t even got the bike, not even run in, not through warranty, thinking of big upgrades. Fuck me.

Sorry guys, i literally just joined this forum yesterday, no im not a troll or a moron. Thought it was actually going to be helpful.......
I have actually done plenty of research on engine conversion, especially hammer performance. I was looking at the 90+ HP package. Was wondering other people's experiences and opinions and hopefully some real insight rather than internet research.
Yeh sorry mate, i honestly just hate the colours on the iron 1200, and don't want a 48, just not me..... lol

I hear the sportster range is being discontinued anyway. May all be pie in the sky.
Buy something. Use it. Trade up to bigger bike. when you can. No one gives you your money back for performance mods.

Some of the sportster range, and alot of others. Not the iron 883, i have physically seen an email from head of sales Australia at the dealership, saying its coming in February-ish 2021, with colour options. All pending covid.

i am what i am steelo.my first thought was possible warranty issues, thats why i suggested a 1200 straight up.i also wondered on availability and production time frames.

Screamin eagle doesn't effect warranty if installed by HD, others do. If i went after market, i will wait for warrenty period to expire, also planning on keeping it long term.

That was true Chester , but in those days the 883 had same barrels as the 1200 just had 1/4" extra meat in the bore. now it's different.
I would not use the Hammer 1275 as they don't have oversize pistons for the kit. I can't work out the new breed that pay good money for something that is throw away when it wears. I started riding Harleys as they lasted forever could rebuild down the track.
Anyway if your in NSW I know where you could get 1200 heads & barrels.
there is two ways to look at it, do you want more torque, or do you want more HP? if you went from 55cubic inch (883 ) to 74 cubic inch ( 1200 ) & kept the 883 heads, you might possibly make a bit more Torque but not as much HP ( just guessing as 883 have different heads ). but nothing wrong with 883.  Basically going from 883 to 1200 , you will gain Torque ( about 55 ft pound 883, & about 74 to 78ft pound 1200, you will get a bit more HP but the thing is no matter what people think, you don't really feel HP but you feel TQ!!)

Just cough up the extra and get an ex demo softail or something, when they do run outs usually you’ll find a street bob or lowest model softy for under $20k.
I’ve owned a bunch of sporties and the bigger bikes are way better, better gear box, better motor, better built, better resale etc.

Why is it better to have an even number of ci phd? Do I need to do something with my 107?

It must by hell on performance car sites with every wannabe talking about their next 1000 hp build.

    Post gone.

    You know...
"Hi, I am D.H. USER No1, and I am a troll. I don't have a bike yet blah, blah blarbedy blah.
Now they can just jump in the deep end.
Also members who have been here for a long time are now pretty well bundled into the same basket as the deep end divers. No brownie points for a million previous posts etc.
Maybe that's the way of the new, equality, inclusiveness set.

So now I'm a dickhead? Did any of you actually stop to think, that as i mentioned earlier, i literally joined this HD forum yesterday.  I don't know who or what morons you've delt with in the past,  whether it was last week or or last year, i really dont care. I genuinely thought "HD Forum" hey might actually be a place to chat with some blokes that have harleys, but im guessing obviously not as I've got nothing. I was sussing out some more info before i made my purchase early next year, but hey guess it was with stupid and rude of me to ask for advice and help on a HD FORUM!!!

Mow 5 speed sporty, same gear box as 5 speed big twin, & the 5 speed stronger than the 6 speed ( I've looked at both )
old 4 speed not as strong, but the four speed big twins had not strong ( I broke more 4 speed big twin gear box's than I can remember.) nothing perfect.

Sorry if I was harsh on you Skotte, as has already been stated  you were unlucky to ask a similar question to a couple (or one schizophenic troll) just after he/they had been a fuckstick.
Hope you have had some positive feedback.

Hi Skotte, agree with Chester. Having converted my previous XL883N to a 1275 with a Hammer kit and the costs associated (kit, clutch pack, tune and labour if not doing it yourself) with the conversion you would be better off with a 1200 straight up. It may be just me but I couldn’t really tell much difference between the performance of a stage one kitted 48 and my converted 1275. I never took the bike high enough in the rev range to notice but the Hammer kit was solid and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it 👍🏻

Really need for the insult mate, no needed at all your comments attitude from you or your mate steelo, but thank you for the apology. I'm just a guy that joined a group wanting to have a chat and find out some information on other experiences. I couldn't care less what you dealt with in the past, and to be honest I don't care either, it wasn't me.
