Gidday all .. How did I go with the spelling .. Anyhow have a good chance to get a set of Fornales shocks off a mate at really decent price .

Question is they are coming off a 2008 Fatboy .. The bike I want to put them on is a 1999 Softail Springer .. And just to confuse things I have a 2006 swingarm on mine .

Will they fit .. I seem to remember that there was a pre 2000 set and a 2000 and up set .. What actually stops a 2008 set fitting on a 1999 model .. If anything .

Unless you're getting them for almost nothing TJU, and can spend your own time installing them, I'd pass. Many members have had extreme difficulty with getting shocks replaced or repaired since the Australian distributor got sick and died.

Ain't there a new guy dealing them here now? Thought he posted on here awhile back giving his details, I run those shocks on my slim TJU, good shock when set up, you need a decent pump or access to a nitrogen charge kit though, pretty high pressure involved, dunno about fitment, what ends do your current shocks have?

My understanding is that everything changed from 1999 to 2000 when they went to the twin cam from evo. Lots of parts are not interchangeable. Got to a big online parts seller like jp cycles a d you can plug in your bike model and see what parts fit. Then change your year model and see what (different) parts are available. Good luck

Thanks guys .. appreciate the feedback .

Steelo .. yeah am getting them fairly cheap from a mate , not free but still pretty good .. would be doing the install myself .. my mate went over to Progressive , not sure why , he says he just likes the old fashioned springs .. Definitely wouldn't be sending them to the Australian company , although I believe the Daughter has taken over the company or something .. here in Queensland if I read the Blurb correctly .

Grease Monkey .. yeah have to track down a pump for any adjustments that may be required .. have read a couple of articles that say some of those Fancy pushbike pumps will do the job .. Not sure but will suss them out .

FatBat .. I thought the same that there was a difference from 1999 to 2000 .. the one thing I am not sure of was that because I have a 2006 swingarm on the old girl I thought there would be a good chance .

Anyhow will have a good look under my Beast and take some measurements and do the same to my mates 08 Fat Boy .

    Cheers guys .

Hey mate, can't help with the, if they'll fit bit, but, a 96 heritage that i've recently bought had a set on it, and i chased up the pump, as you said mountain bike pump will work, and they didn't hold air. Managed to track down the guy who now deals fornales, Pierre, lives in/near Beenleigh Brisbane. He does a shock exchange for 700. I too went the progressive suspension route. Google Fornales Pacific for phone numbers if interested. Hope this helps, good luck.

Tim I had a look at mine and the later models have an eye on one end and a threaded rod on the other, older ones had two eyes. A quick look under yours will reveal all.

Evo has a point, the Dyna shocks are ok with a little pump but the Softail shocks run a much higher pressure, I have the fournales pump and it's easy as, friggin dear though.
