Rossy , sounds like bike had oil level checked after standing, & someone topped it up.
these motors are dry sump, if bike stands long enough, the oil will leak down into the engine case. then when you start it up. The oil will get pumped back up into the oil tank.
so it sounds to me like bike had been standing & the oil was checked looked too low, so was topped up. then when motor started the oil from cases pumped back into oil tank that had been refilled. so no were for all that oil to go & dip stick gets spat out so oil can escape.
will probably need to drain oil out, then re start motor, check more oil was pumped back into oil tank, check the level oil. you could either drain it all out. then secure oil drain so its sealed & put new oil in tank check level of the oil. then start it up to make sure filter full or oil. then recheck tank has enough oil. take it for a ride far enough to warm it up, check oil level in oil tank if low top up if ok, your right to go.
good luck ( sorry for lengthy reply )
