18km/l = 5.56 l/100kms (about on money for big unmod Harley) my 107 ultra gets about 5.4 on a trip.
    12km/l = 8.34 l/100kms (I would have thought very poor ecomomy)

Copy this into google for hundreds of tables and calculators. Even ask Siri

    km/l to l/100km

Think tuning via AFR under load, shooting for something like 13.1 AFR under full load. But in this case riding in heavy traffic, might need to time how long motor running for to use 1L, not measure distance.

Good luck. I thought I read somewhere, a loose exhaust system can give the same popping noise. What octane fuel are you using. 91 or lower can do it too. Think about what else you changed that started the issue. Perhaps some of the other experts can chime in.
Leaning it out will improve the economy but also increase the heat. You are right. There has to be a happy medium. Good luck.

Yep, loose intake or exhaust can suck in air with longer duration cams. Pop, pop, pop, but sometimes, if the balance is right, you can get a great off throttle exhaust crackle 😎 but ultimate performance will suffer 😡

Rick it needs tuning mate, to do that you need data, only two ways to get it, on the drum or on the road, it's snake oil this caper you are being sucked into, not your fault but it shits me to watch it happening.

G'day I did the same thing that rick k did got a shop tune though a Harley dealership. Now they did manage to stop a lot of popping on decel and the motor seems to run a bit cooler both things I wanted but my bike seems to be chewing a bit of fuel. Now here is my question, if I put my bike on a dyno the tune that gets put in flashs my ecu is that correct. So when I got it shop tuned with the power vision wouldn't that have done the same thing. Also can a bike fall out off tune without having a on board tuner even if the ecu had been reflashed. Btw this is my first efi Harley always had carby bikes which was simpler to tune so most of this is new to me.

No, divide the km by the litres, that gives you km for 1 litre then move decimal place to give 100 km.
    eg 8.5 divided by 200 =.0425 therefore move decimal 2 places = 4.25 lt per 100 km.

Chocco the Powervision sends the File to the Bike ecu.

Typically, the File is created on a computer, it is then transferred to the Powervision and then the Powervision connects to bike and the File is flashed/put in bike ECU. Then you pack Powervision away in closet )or use a display)

The dyno provides the information to the person using the Powervision software on a computer. Some things are done a bit easier with software and sensors etc.

EFI = Electronic FUEL injection, these are all car sensors/systems from 30-35yrs ago
    Thanks

Thanks for the info. Bloody technology still has me stumped at times you know the old saying....you can't teach an old dog new tricks.... yep that's me. Been my first fuel injected Harley I am still learning about tuners, different maps, etc, etc, it's a bit of a mine field for some of us. Anyway I thinking about putting on a set of Vance & Hines staggered big shots exhaust in the new year so I have to retune my bike and hopefully get better fuel economy.

Choco you can tune with the V&H pipes to make them run as good as the pipe will allow without popping and with good fuel economy etc, done a few mates bikes with V&H stuff, here's a few I can remember straight up,
    V&H Short Shots.
    V&H Big Shots.
    V&H Side Shots.
    V&H 2 into 1 Big Radius.
    V&H Power Duels with V&H Hi-Output mufflers.
No popping on any, some more challenging than others, all road tuned so not as good as they could be but better than any canned cal or cal modded on a computer with no data from the bike.

You did nothing wrong mate, I think the shops should explain things so the customer makes an informed choice, especially more so if they are riders themselves, naivety at its best right there. For what it's worth my first foray into EFI Harley mods had me handing over coin for sweet FA thinking I was on the right path, 12 months later this forum educated me on my error and I started to ask questions and learn what I could from tuners and cluey buggas willing to share their knowledge, point is you got to start somewhere.

That's how easy It is Rick k, provide some feedback so they can change values on computer and put in bike.

Keep an eye on plugs as they are the best indicator of how things going.
