This new tunnel should get the congestion off Pennant Hill's Rd, and speed up traffic coming down from central  & north coast.
but the toll $7.50 for bikes, cars, motorhomes & cars towing caravans. but $27 for truck's & trucks are forced to use it or pay a $190 fine ( hard on truck ) !! Also why the large difference in toll to cars & so on, to Trucks? But no reduced or free Toll to Motorbikes? we need to ask the politician's!!

Just heard about that. I  drove trucks up and down the Pennant Hills road and it was always a nightmare.
I think it is only about 9 kilometres long but you would swear it was 30.
I was usually fully loaded in both directions in a quad axle semi with a GMV of 50.5 tons
That truck used a liter of diesel every two kilometres on the highway at cruising speed. Dont know how much it would have used in stop start traffic on the Pennant Hills road but it would use  a fair bit more. Lets say one litre every one and a half kilometres .
So according to my spectacularly good mathematics   :  9km   multiplied by 1.5 multiplied  by the price of diesel is what it costs to drive the PHR.
If we have any mathematicians on the forum please feel free to comment.
What I dont like about it is truck drivers get fined for using a public road.  That is fucked.

yeh, can't make everyone happy, but the state government will be flexible. like with local delivery's so on.
the good part is the tunnel links up to other motorways so a run Briz to Melbourne (no traffic lights ) but as would be expected you pay Tolls!! but wear & tear plus local pollution & better fuel economy will be a plus, also less stress on the Truck Drivers.

Many moons ago I used to drive B-double from Brisbane to Melbourne and needed to go via Sydney to drop one trailer off and take another on to Melbourne. Hated Pennant Hills road with a passion. Great having a tunnel, don't have a problem forcing trucks to use it but making them pay the toll in the process stinks in my opinion.
