    Blown ?
    To what extent, usually repairable.

Welcome to the forums Tyrone. This is an Australia wide forum so might be helpful to put a location unless you're willing to fly someone and their motor cross country for installation?

Am wondering this too - what exactly does "blown" mean?
And if it's happened twice then maybe you're doing something wrong!

Me thinkin too many wheelies. Or. Why do i need too check oil level.  Or.  Chasing too many vee rods. Hhaa

Engine problem arised when i  went to stage 5, it wasn't installed correctly and dang out of luck they didn't give me warranty for the work so i had to fork out $3500 to fix it myself. Then 15 months later after getting older and gone deaf, i couldn't hear engine not doing well because the exhaust was so loud. One day i heard loud bang and scraping noises and that was the end of that motor.

I was told i ride too slow like an old man that's why me engine didn't make it :(

A stealership now wants to charge me $10K for a new 103ci but the parts wont be available for at least 12 months due to govdid19 and they want $10K upfront, or pay $10,600 to fix it also at least july 2021 before the parts all arrive.

The problem with paying $10K upfront along with govdid19 i dont know if that stealership is going to be around 3 months from now.

I had to look outside the box and go searching for the engine myself, found a 110ci CVO engine, paid for it and now getting someone to install it for me.

For $10K i might as well go for the 120R and pay someone to install it for me but this 110ci cvo engine will save me lots of money.

Let's start at the beginning Tyrone. The bike is only 3 years old. 2 engines? What happened?  I have seen on this forum (somewhere) people advertising 103 internals so together we may be able to come up with the bits you need.

    This'll be good...

i  just updated my previous post explaining why my engine blew up. I need to find a good mate who could install parts and stuff for me as i am illiterate when it comes to tool pushing.

Thanks T. Sorry for your loss.
I am a big supporter of the "leave it the fuck alone" "stock" brigade.
This forum has seen a number of horror story builds where owners have been left to their own devices when the upgrades have spectacularly and expensively failed.
    Keep us in the loop.

bro i am with  you on "leave it the fuck alone" i have been burnt by shoddy stealerships for too long, they left me for the dogs to kill.

This 110ci cvo engine is brand new and i am going to leave it stock standard, i no longer have jobs after the death of my only son i can no longer pay for expensive parts.

Good news fellas got a new 110ci cvo engine fitted for 2/3 of the price a HD dealer was trying to charge me for a smaller engine 103ci.

I found a guy that i trust a lot so i am going to use him to service my bike from now on (no more HD dealership blood suckers for me).

    Good outcome for you Tyrone.
Sorry about loss of your son too.

A couple of things to be aware of re the 110ci twin cam motor. The lifters are more prone to failure and you need to keep an ear out for noisy lifters. A noisy exhaust can make this difficult. Changing out the harley or screamin eagle lifters for one of the better aftermarket suppliers like s&s is recommended. It doesn’t fix the problem but provides more time before lifters need to be replaced. Unknown what the cause of the problem is but many theories around including the valve spring pressure on the 110ci heads being too heavy. I dunno what to believe but if you research lifters issues on the twin cam 110ci motor, you’ll see it’s a legitimate concern and it can cause major engine damage.

They also tend to run a bit hotter than the twin cam 103 engine so regular servicing with good oil and a good tune become all the more important.

If you’re installing the engine from scratch, I’d replace the lifters with s&s lifters and replace the screamin eagle 255 cam with an Andrew’s 48 which will perform the same if not a bit better but it won’t generate as much heat. Not much additional money in those things (or labour) so it’s be a no brainer for me.

Don’t mean to scare you about the lifter issue but just letting you know for awareness sake.

    Good luck

Some good information there fatbat.  If  you dont mind me asking Tyrone , how much did that project end costing you?
And a few details on how you managed to blow the last one up would be interesting.  Sorry for your loss mate.
