Well it appears the new manifold seals have mostly sorted the beast. Backplate first, then throttle body bolts. Whoever came up with the positioning of the bolts was one sadistic little cunt. I figure he came up with the torque figure too. Like the torque wrench that could fit those bolts actually existed. Prick.

It still drops low in revs when pulling up at the lights half the time but it doesn't stall, just resumes normal idle after a couple of seconds... no other issues have reappeared by the time I wrote this.

Now, *if* the Flying Fickle Finger of Fate has finished fist fucking me, I'll be riding the bike to Adelaide tomorrow.

    Well done Smokey.

It's a difficult job, it is a very common problem.

    The IAC rarely fails.

The Widey made it to Adelaide, hauled my fat arse and pulled like an ore train through 40° temps across Qld and NT, sat on 130+ all the way across the NT, and down to Adelaide with only one reoccurrence of the idle problem in Alice Springs, but I'll put that down to the bike just fucking with me. Bastard.

Did you hook up a laptop to the Thundermax to see what that had to say?

No, I removed the ThunderMax when I did the cams, I had a Screamin' Eagle Super Tuner Pro fall into my lap, so the original BCU is back in there.

One single reoccurence of the issue in over 5000kms says it's as good as it gets right now.

Finger tighten everything in place then get the breather bolts torqued to spec first, then backing plate to manifold then manifold clamps.

    Did the original IAC work?

Bit of discussion 12 months ago about avoiding intake manifold leaks.
I don't go with the manual on this one. This is my preferred method. Found a youtube video that spells it out.
