    Hi,
About to pull the pin and buy some paint (Aerosol cans) to do my Sporty Custom  tank.  Targeting the general look of the attached picture below - minus the Janis and Jimi graphics.
The layers I have in mind are:
    1. Bare Metal
    2. Light Undercoat/primer (is this also called a ground Coat)
    3. Crystal (Mutant Crystalz) or maybe just glad wrap effect
    4. Flake or Silver Metalic basecoat
    5. Clearcoat (1k) or maybe a yellow kandy basecoat
    6. Kandys
    7. Clearcoat (2K)
(All paint is the same Brand and will be applied per TDS specs)

DOES THIS SEEM RIGHT?  I'm a total noob at this so am just guessing based upon research.

I`m also no expert but unless your  primer is also a sealer I think I would lay down a sealer first check for flatness ,filler if necessary  then prime /undercoat just how I`ve done it

    Hi tussuck,
If you are starting with bare metal and you haven't already done so, I would seriously consider using an etch primer first, (Stops the surface rust etc), also helpful if you aren't going to finish the job in one day.
Normal primer/surfacer is pourous and will let any moisture, in the air or otherwise, in (like when you rub it smooth with wet and dry using water).

unless your primer is also a sealer I think I would lay down a sealer first .......Epoxy Primer is what I meant , & a 2K sealer before topcoat.... or as Pedro 123 has detailed etch primer also a good option
