Touring model fuel caps

I think this may only apply to touring model plastic screw on / off fuel caps which are hidden beneath the lockable fuel flap. I saw on Law Abiding Biker a product which attaches a magnet to your fuel cap so that when you re-fuel the cap 'sticks' to your ignition switch (or wherever you choose) and it doesn't blow away in the wind, fall off the petrol bowser or get accidentally left behind. Seems like a really good idea but with the current USD - AUD exchange rate the cost is too expensive.
So I went to Bunnings and purchased a packet of extra strong 'neodymium' adhesive magnets (pack of 5x 19mm with self-adhesive back for $12). I have stuck 2, one of top of the other and on the opposite side to the HD bar and shield logo, to my fuel cap and it sticks to the ignition switch strongly (I think 1 would probably be okay but I used 2 just to make sure it held on tight). Just give the adhesive 24 hours to cure.

Hope some of you find this helpful.

    Regards

Good idea, usually leave mine on the seat so I would sit on it if by chance I forgot to put it back on. Every now and then it blows off in the wind. Could see how this would work better.
    Cheers.

This really boggles the mind. Every other motorcycle manufacturer has solved the issue years ago by attaching the cap to the bike. For a Harley Davidson you still have to find somewhere to leave it where it won't get lost or damaged while you fill up.
