    Hi
Can anyone suggest the basic tools that one shoudl carry on their bike .( 03 Fatboy)
I have got a tyre repair kit (size of a leatherman ) and small 12 V pump (size of a tennis ball) - both from Motopressor and compact as you can get .
Im after what else you might think is viable to carry

i have a small bag on the handlebars to carry the gear on so suggest away .

    Im thinking
    - Torx heads
    - flat blade screw driver
    - spannners
    -adjustable wrench

perhaps someone might know off the top of their heads what are the common sizes of nuts / bolts etc

I looked at the HD Factory Serrvice manual but it doesnt list common nut / bolt / torx sizes unfortunately .

I'll check each nut / bolt / torx fixing manually but maybe someone might have a idea off the top of their head

The HD variety is some $360-00 and far to big to carry on the bike

Im not after a roadside engine rebuild kit bit just enough gear to tighten / loosen the vast majority of fastners

Thanks for your input in advance

    Much appreciatted

Kato , most Harleys have mag's now that are tubeless , it is rare to get a flat. I have spoke wheels with tubes & ride about 10 -15k per year, in 4 years no flats (touch wood ). at one time on an old shovel with 21" front spoke wheel, I road 20km with the front 21" flat. to a mates he had a tube & we fixed it. but if worried about flats stick to tubeless , you can run tubeless with spoke wheels too. you can carry a pump ( very small one ) or a plug kit , but these are temporary ways, to get you home.

A tubeless tyre normally deflates very slowly. Usually the puncture becomes apparent days later when the tyre gradually deflates. That's why it's important to check regularly for nails and screws because at home is where you want to discover it.
I take a plug kit and pump or CO2 canisters with me on a trip. Anything that can't be fixed with that means I'm walking anyway.
If you have spoked rims just carry tyre levers, a pump and a spare tube. That's a pain yes, which is one reason why I don't like spoked rims.

Yes would recommend it for the long/interstate trips. And yes had to be towed from Airlie Beach to Mackay on one occasion. Last renewal was $110. Youi my current insurer now offers the same coverage inclusive of my comp policy
