This 'cruiser malarkey' is a bit howdie-doodie........
After 20-30 odd kays I find myself trying to grip the tank with my knees, or hangin' on for grim death to the bars :o
so........ whats the problem in your opinion?..... I'm used to the standard 'sit-upon' UJM
(the same connotation can be applied to British Triumphs, or Royal Enfields by the way ) :)

But riding this Harley is hard bluddy work :o ........... so is it case of 'stop being a big girl's blouse' or
do I need to look at a more comfortable perch than the standard Fatboy mold for the nether regions......
I know I have to provide something a little more substantial for a pillion, even my 10yo grandaughter deserves better, LoL :)

You'll get used to it. No point doing anything for local commuting but an Airhawk could be beneficial for long distance country riding.

I too don’t like riding the Fatboys nor anything with footboards. Top of my legs get cramp and there’s lower back pain.
So, if like me you’re a leggy 190cm, you might be needing forward controls. Maybe test ride a Breakout, your Fatboy’s easily converted if it’s more comfy.

I have a Mustang wide touring seat with rider back rest and it is so good for my butt, and the backrest takes a load off your hands and chest at highway speeds.  The back rest has eliminated me using my detachable windshield, and I can sit on that saddle for hours without an ounce of discomfort.  I used to have a stock seat on my Softail and had the same issues as you with the sore butt after 30-45 min.  Im 190cm, had extended reach forward controls, then standard forward controls and now floorboards, and I am most comfy with the floorboards, so each to their own.
My bike went from an uncomfortable ride to an armchair with these minor changes.

I have a Wide Glide, and the standard seat on that was the first one I've found that was worse than my old DR650 seat.

I went to a Sundowner dual seat, looks a bit fat but the comfort is 10/10.

Tried a Sundowner solo seat, different seat entirely. it has a large hump in the front, fucked if I know why HD and aftermarket seats do that, and less support at the back than the dual version.

I also have a Mustang Tripper solo, it's only for looks, but it's more usable than the stock HD seat.

Still looking for a good looking, comfortable solo seat that's good for a couple of hundred kms.

sundowners are a good comfortable seat ,not great in appearance with the fat pillion pad, but 10/10 on the long haul,4600km to burliegh heads and back did me well.

If you’re doing long rides and getting a sore arse, you gotta change your seat. Good looking seats are rarely comfortable for long rides and comfy seats rarely look good. Gotta find a compromise of have a couple of seats to change up. For comfort I’ve used the harley sundowners which are good. And the mustang touring seats and lastly the Corbin seats which I reckon are the best but you pay for what you get and Corbin uses leather so it breathes better as does your arse on a long hot day of riding. I recommend getting one with a detachable backrest which are awesome for long rides

I've got a Sundowner dual seat but I found it set me back a bit and being a shortarse that's no good. It's virtually new. It fits my 2011 Deluxe. Not sure if it will fit your bike but if you're interested it is for sale at $220 plus postage. Send me your mobile number and I'll send you a pic. I'm in SA.Cheers.

I had a Sundowner on my Nightrain and now on my Roady, they do have a big pillion seat but with a sissy bar and rack, it takes away the bulkiness and makes the seat looks better
    and comfortable
I had a lepara solo seat on the train, could not ride the 75ks to Pt Augusta then back without having my coccyx trying to kill me

I don't know mate, I've never had a brit bike, always ridden Harley or dirt bikes.
but I never give comfort much thought, always love riding.
I can ride a Harley till it needs refuelling . ( if I get the chance. ) I got a a friends new m8 & no comfort issues.
everyone different. hope you took the bike for a long test ride before buying?

They are all different, as are we. I have a '98 Road King with forward controls, HD Pillow Look Touring Seat and a rider backrest. Wouldn't have it any other way. Had to get rid of the footboards when I had both knees replaced. Yeah, I'm Bionic Man.

I would never install air suspension unless I wanted the gimmick of raising it up and then dumping it on its arse for looks, which isn’t my style.
A better seat will fix this guys issue. And nothing beats proper spring suspension for reliable suspension purpose.
