Wheel building

Well after advice given on this site I finally had a crack at lacing and truing my own wheel. My bike came with a 16" x 3" rear rim and I wanted to go something wider so I picked up a 17" x 4.5" off a Dyna. Pulled both wheels apart and laced the wider rim to my hub and spent about an hour fucking around getting it trued up.
Now that I've got the tyre (Pirelli Night Dragon 160/70-17) on and the wheel back on the bike the tyre is about 5mm offset from centre so with the extra tyre width it's pretty close to the guard. But apart from that, I'm stoked with it. Glad I had a crack at it rather than sending it to a shop.

Just a question, the Dyna wheel wouldn't fit ?
I know you can get any combination of wheel bearings to suit different axles .
I'm running a softail wheel in my Dyna.

I'm sure I could've made it fit, wheel was off a non ABS model and hub width was different so I didn't want to mess around with spacers and bearings. I have previously put a softail wheel on a sportster so I know it can be done.
Plus lacing a wheel is something I've always wanted to learn how to do anyway so this was the perfect excuse.
