    Hi,
I have a factory EFI Sporty Tank that I'm going to repaint/cover/bastardise
Would normal paint stripper work to remove the paint?
    Cheers

I've used paint stripper before and it worked well. I've also repainted one without removing paint, just sanded back the clear coat and painted over the top. Both ways had good results

Awesome... I'm freelancing a copper sheet coating so need a full strip as I'll be using a gas torch to mould patterns etc .  So really need it stripped back to bare metal.  Polystripper here I come!

I am no expert but I was using paint stipper just the other day.
It said on the label to put it on and wash it off 20 minutes later.
I left it overnight and expected no paint to be there the next day but
all the paint was still there.  Only a bit wrinkled and fucked up.
If youre gonna use paint stripper read the instructions.  And yeah  it will take the paint off the tank
    (if you follow the instuctions)
Keep us up to date with the paint job tussuck

if you can find aircraft paint stripper use that - otherwise any paint stripper.
After that you will likely still need to crack out either the air sander with some 80 grit or just sand it off by hand with 80 grit. It doesn't take that much effort. To get into the corners and tight spots.

A local sandblaster would knock it off pretty quick - but you need to work quick so you dont get any surface rust.

Im interested to see how it turns out - remember to take pics!

Like me never heard of it. I would have thought setting fire to it would distort the shape as you had no control over what part is hotter than the other?

YEah. I'll use paint stripper.  I only have one Barby and its a nice one so the missus would not be happy to find a tank in it...lol...Its bad enough enough when I put chit in the oven or dishwasher.

Take it to an auto engine reconditioner and get them to hot tank it, as long as it has no alloy fittings.

    Cheers.
