went for a short ride up the hill the other day and it decided to rain on the way back ... fkn soaked through !!!! .. even though it mostly stopped on my way back i continued to get drowned feet and legs due to the stubby front guard .. as much as i dont ride in the rain to often i guess that wont be the last time .. so now im thinking about a much longer front guard and the expense of it .. buying one that will fit ..and getting it sprayed to suit .

Have you considered buying a pair of gumboots?
    That might be the go.
I had a mate with a similar problem,  he used to put plastic shopping bags over his feet and tape them on. Until the day he got off the bike and his feet went out from under him. He stopped doing it after that.

Is your mate gonna sell the plastic bags now he’s not using them?

I will have to ask old mate if he has got any left.  Since woolies banned them they are rare as hens teeth
so dont expect them to be cheap.
I  would advise against the shopping bag trick but. If I remember correctly I think he pulled up at the
traffic lights and when he put his feet down his feet slipped out and he dropped the bike.
He wasnt the smartest tool in the shed.

    Jeeze you’re a mob o cunny funts.
Back on track though I don’t believe changing guards will do much. I ride an old Fatbob, small guard, fat tyre and in pissing rain where we’ve all slowed down on the freeway, hail etc, I’m high and dry, high in sunny weather too but dry in the pissing rain.
Good rain wear will sort it but as you said, you got caught out. We’ve all been there.
The odd dousing does us good, makes me appreciate the fire and stout even more.

I’ve considered beagle basher’s mate’s plastic bags a bit more. I was probably after a pair that didn’t slip as much. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy to wear plastic bags on my feet but not some cheap and slippery second hand bags

Just wrap those bags in potato or oyster sacks for that much needed extra grip.

The road king screen pushes a lot of the rain away , But my boots always filled up with water from getting wet from knees down, I drilled holes in the bottom of the boots , and hey presto they dont fill up anymore. Keep riding until rain stops and continue until you are blow dried.

put on your socks, the bag then your shoes
the idea is to keep your feet dry (warm) not keep the shoes dry
