sounds great, but I just got tyre punctured had to stand by the road for three hours to wait for a pickup.
So I don't know what to say. Maybe get a tyre that is less fun to ride but hard like a rock?

EDIT: and as I always warn people, Yowies, aka Australian Bigfoots roaming in the bush across the country. They are big, and fast, can run at 80kmh with cars for 15 to 30 mins according to some witness. You wont believe it until you see them! So not to ride at night.

Just Do it Wello & enjoy.
I think we all take too much crap we don't need ( but think we might ).
soon after I started riding Harleys, A guy I meet had just did the Sydney Perth & return to Sydney run on his own & on a 1965 Panhead, that was back in late 70's. Enjoy it! & in those days no plastic money, no mobile phones , no Harley 24 hour help. you got it easy!

Hi Wello. I have the Airhawk R (tourer) model for the ultra. It has the cut outs for the family jewels and coccyx. I also swap it over onto the Deuce. Surprisingly on one long trip I was getting uncomfortable and a lot of heat in the nether regions and took the AH and back rest (which I felt was pushing me forward) off and have enjoyed the riding a whole lot more. Because you need to sit up a bit straighter I sometimes use a motorcross style kidney belt for back support. Takes a lot of stress away. The missus will be OK because she doesn't have to do anything except lean back into the Tour pak.

+1 on the kidney belt for long rides.

Wear The belt from Aldi, and assists back issue, a fair bit.
Body warmth on the cold regios, no, get ya mind outta there, have heat pack for same thing on lower back for same reason, ok , sucks getting old.
I have put forward this statement before you guys were born.
'If I knew I was going to fucken live this fucken long, I would have looked after myself, better'!

so maybe planning on around 700 plus k,s a day .. first stop maybe norsman .. or balladonia if things go well . wont really know how far i can go until that first stint .. im normally one to push the limits a bit but see how wife holds up. kind of limited to where the better stop offs ( motels ) are i spose
    then maybe norsman to eucla.
from eucla im not sure of the next best stop for distance and decent digs but  wudinna /kyancutta looks good distance wise.
from there on in its a bit hit and miss but probably adelaide or somewhere nice just after, then into mount gambia following day .
be nice if i could shorten that all a bit though .

One way to shorten it is to do it on a big sports / tourer type of bike and thrash the fukin thing.
When I done it we were sitting on at least 200kph across the Nullarbor.  Sometimes absolutely flat out .
I was on a GPZ 1000 rx and I remember the needle hitting 270. Great fun!

    2  Fucken 7 zero.
Wow Fastest I have been is 140MPH taking a chick out to tea, which was at a joint outta Dampier, called Roebourne, for Chineese , which special fried rice had snake, now that was special. Circa 1978,
Anyway long story, brother , friend was a bouncer from the Star in NZed, lent me his GT Ford Cobra, fuck people were nice then, and We hit 140 mph n car.
Motorcycle and honestly say have only been road riding at 245kph by sargent cop, who said, after coversation, he was going to get his radar gun checked.
But 270 kilometers is rocking and rolling man, don't scratch that itch...

Done a lot of long distance stuff , , what you need for sure are credit card , RAA cover australia wide , , maybee throw in harley cover for extra ,, Tools  well i never bothered , don't know how to fix things anyway , so thats why i always had , cover and a credit card , needed it once  did end up sitting on the side of the road for a few hrs ,  then a guy pulled up same time has the tow vechille , and he made a make shift  clutch cable there and then , which got me going and actually i kept it on for months . So make sure you or a mechanic gives the bike a good look at before you leave

Side of road brings us to something important ,, water carry plenty of it and some mars bars , sandwhiches whatever ,, its amazing how hungry and thirtsy you get on the side of the road ,, Clothes well , i always work on the 3 rule thats 3 of everything , 3 jocks , 3 socks , 3 shirts , 3 pants , you can wash them at  motels every couple of days if needed ,, In summer i always wear draggin jeans  whenb riding , and  take light board shorts , for lounging around the pool at night , pair decent shorts for pub time , so thats just 1 jeans 1 board shorts 1 denim shorts , =3 ,, , I always wear my leather jacket if its hot simply wet your t shirt and put your jacket on will keep you cool for a while ,,, I've learnt never take too much ,   i never throw away old socks and jocks and t shirts , i just pack them and simply throw them away  when i've used them , occasions when i've gone fook no socks and jocks left easy next supermarket , i'll buy some , there not expensive , same with t shirts , i've set of many a time with 3 old ones , come home with 3 new ones ,

Have fun you will work it out , just remember if its summer , set of early and arrive at the hotel / motel early ,  so you can enjoy the pool and a beer , for me thats always the best part of the day
