I'm looking for the best battery I can get with the highest cca.
The 98 fatboy has a 125 merch in it with decompression buttons and I need the cca as high as I can get.
I had a SSB LH16CLB with 600cca but it had died, fortunately while it was parked in the driveway.
Last time I was at the mechanics he told me there are better batteries then SSB and he gave me a few names but I forgot.

    Any recommendations?
    Thanks.

I'm using the Antigravity ATX20-HD. HEAVY DUTY LITHIUM BATTERY 900CCA/30AH in my dyna, Hi Comp custom 120R with 150HP/145 tq at rear wheel.

Best battery I've had.  Cranks over no problem hot or cold.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Antigravity-ATX20-HD-HEAVY-DUTY-LITHIUM-BATTERY-900CCA-30AH-PbEq/264532350782?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649

If you are in Brisbane I have an Anti-Gravity 720CCA Lithium Battery if you want to try it (gratis).

very interesting! also I like the Fontana302 !!
I've been wondering about LITHIUM battery on a Harley, like are they good for every day riding & is the stock charging system ok with them? to date the only experience I have with Lithium Battery is mobile phones, bionic ears, & E mountain Bikes.

    thanks for any info!

They are great if you are willing to spend more money for a higher cca.
If you need a higher cca to crank over a high compression engine, you don't have a choice. You need a lithium battery.

Riding the harley will charge the battery same as normal but if you use a normal battery charger on a lithium battery you will destroy it.

You need a lithuim trickle charger if you want to leave it on a trickle charger.

What the story? Catastrophic failure during cranking, while riding or charging with charger?

I am going to be running a lithium SSB on my xs650 cafe project. Unfortunately I have already bought it so no changing now.
I wanted lithium due to weight and size as I am hiding it up under the rear cold.
Hope it doesn't go the same way as a bit awkward to get to quickly.

I only recently put a Harley lithium battery in my Breakout and V Rod, I had to buy batteries anyway and the dealer offered me a price for both batteries and a charger too good to refuse. The cranking power is not massively better that I've noticed but they are much lighter.
Time will tell if they're worth the spend, I'm a pretty low tech guy normally so hopefully I don't get bitten on the arse.

How many pounds of cranking pressure are you talking about?
I think really large motors, need a lot to turn over as well as high cranking pressure, but all the EFI have decamp wired in.
my friend had a 190 cubic inch big twin & needed a starter motor from an Army Tank to turn it over with a few big batteries ( remote starter )

The li-ion battery disadvantages include: Protection required: Lithium ion cells and batteries are not as robust as some other rechargeable technologies. They require protection from being over charged and discharged too far. In addition to this, they need to have the current maintained within safe limits.

I'm not sure of the pounds of cranking pressure, but mine is a 98 Fatboy with a carby so it doesn't have the EFI or decamp wired in.
I had a 600 cca battery in it and it only just turned over the first few times when it was cold. It does have a bigger starter motor too.

Once it had turned over a few times it was okay, but the extra cca will help.
