    Hi
Just asking, what is the pro/cons of stainless pipes?

Does it turn into nasty colour with age?

I have had stainless pipes on Harleys, & had them crack. You don’t have to worry about discolouring as you can hand polish ( lot of rubbing ). They sound different too. They were lighter than the D&D 2 into 1 race system I replaced them with. The D&D was built to last!

What do you reckon? What other material are you using for pipes?

Yeah they definitely aren't as springy as mild steel, so if the mounts aren't A1, the stainless can fatigue and crack. Especially with cheap light guage Chinese stainless and robot welds.
I luckily haven't had any issues with ones I've made myself and they get absolutely flogged from wheelies.

    They don't rust.
    They don't rust
    They don't rust
If they are not double skinned, they will go blue from heat near the heads. Some people like the look.

generaly mild/carbon steel .. however the weight difference is next to nothing unless the gauge is different

Still seems expensive. You could get a TBR, Bassani or Fab28 exhaust for that money

OMG.....Ugly as chit and overpriced to boot.  AND your right, they are not even a real pipe per-sec compared to Bassani or S&S.

My only personal experience of stainless pipes on a motorcycle was a "Gazelle" 4 into 1 system I bought for a 1976 Kawasaki z900 around 1984.

Made in South Africa , it was well shaped and sounded good , curved around the underslung oil filter.

So you did not need to take the system off to service the oil filter and sump plug. ( Some other brands at the time fouled the oil filter access )

The downpipes "blued" almost instantly , single skinned. The stock OEM z900 downpipes were double skinned chromed. That was a wee bit "fugly"
