    Probably just the start of the range cutting. What the dealer guys says about the 240 range does make sense (to me at least). Quite like the Deluxe's so a bit surprised there. Will be interesting how long the Sportster lasts.

    I was aware the new CEO had penciled out some of the new models but surprised that Breakout was one to be dropped along with all CVO.

    FXDR out ! Might be time to get one on runout, they’re rare already, stick it in the lounge for ten years, could be a little earner. 
    Then again, that didn’t work with the BMW Cruiser.

    Thats a very interesting comment Scouser and i was totally in agreeance with you after reading the vision the previous CEO had undertaken, but this new CEO has decided to hold back on lots of the new models as well as concentrate on the existing core of air cooled v twin bikes. I think this is a good statergy as the old CEO seemed to want to fire a shotgun of models into the buying public and see what would sell and push the crap out of it. Just FYI
    sales so far this year for top 10 tourers.... 1 Street glide 63, 2 Ultra 60, 3 Road glide 38, 5th Road glide CVO 22, 6TH Road King 21, 9th Tri Glide 14, 10th CVO Limited 14.  Six of the top 10 in cruisers are HD with breakout (about to be canned!) sitting second on 153. The only "new" bike on the list is the street 500 with 205 sales

    Sadly and as mentioned prior,  all the new models due for release have been mothballed by the CEO including the bronx. Certainly agree that Indian have left Harley behind with the power and tech.

    Have to agree. If they could price some of those proposed upcoming models competitively, they'd certainly attract the upcoming demographics. Problem is they've relied too much for too long on the departing ones. 
    I actually looked at Indians when I bought my Sport Glide. The Scout was way better than a Sportster for similar money, but for me, the Softails have no real equivalent from Indian.

    I'm thinking of selling my Superglide. I have a sketchy knee that is slow to heal. A Scout is a very likely replacement. If Harley still made the VRod I would look closer at some of them but I expect factory support for them to fall away.

    Went looking for this YouTube video by Laidlaws Harley.

    The rest of the bike was great, but I liked the Softail better.

    I was speaking with a Harley Salesman a while back and in passing he said he thought the sportster was on borrowed time.
    Because he said of the EPA/Noise/ Euro4 or (perhaps5 or6, I can't really remember) requirements.
    How many large capacity air cooled twins are left. Everything is going water-cooled.
    Reading between the lines the new 500/750 twins will have a bigger version or a smaller M8 motor.

    Don't comment much,but i don't  think air/ oil cooled is dead just yet. Royal Enfield 650 springs to mind and doing quite well.
    I like My Harley air/ oil cooled, no radiator, coolant,fan,corrosion concerns, hoses. Call me old fashioned but is it really needed? Servicing my bike is easy/ straight forward, i like that.
    Why is suzuki DR 650 still up there in bike sales after 20 plus years? Go figure market trends? On the other hand any projected new models being moth balled really means there finished. Any thing stopped now will be that far behind in fashion and tech. will never catch up. Just saying, cheers.

    I finding these days that the younger generation that have a interest in Harleys usually have parents who ride. Fact is a lot of the younger ones have no interest in motorcycles or even cars and don't even hold a license they just use public transport or travel interstate by plane. The writing might be on the wall for Harley but I am sure others will go the same way especially the premium priced bike's not many out there these days can afford to spend $30,000 plus on a bike. I feel one of the first things Harley needs to do is drop the price on there bike's these days you can buy a brand new car cheaper than a Harley and that will appeal to many that might of been thinking of a motorcycle.  There will always be motorcycle riders but I believe over the years in will be a much smaller group.

    Very true also most have to ride a LAMS approved bike for three years now so many just don't bother about getting a license or bike.
