more air, but no rain sock?

    any advice, suggestions, recommendations welcome....

after a couple of happy years with my Street Bob, I'm contemplating Stage I time, so starting to look at air filters (and exhausts, and tuners) and wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a breather (SE, or other) that will improve airflow, not look like a factory chimney (sleek and low profile is preferred) and doesn't need a rain sock! Oh, and must be available in black not chrome ;)
my previous Dyna when i bought it had a breather on which I was constantly getting in the way of my leg, so replaced it with a S&S one (with a reusable K&N filter) and was really happy with it... but that was back in the US (even in the Seattle winter it didn't need a rain sock) and they don't seem to have a similar design for the M8. No issues getting a Screaming Eagle/HD part, though most of them seem to be a bit on the 'over compensating' end of the size spectrum (and need rain sock) but I'm after discrete as possible.

On the exhausts, still looking around ... like the idea of 2-into-1, but discrete and slimline is the vibe

Tuner ... I'm inclined towards the FuelPak3 because as well as the set and forget auto-magic tuning, it does all the shiny bluetooth connection to your phone if you want to se data after a ride (more for fun than any serious reason) but open to recommendations (on the old Dyna it was running whatever it came with when I bought it second hand, I think Power Commander? never had any problems with it so really mostly interested in something that will sit hidden away wherever it needs to go under the tiny saddle space ... just needs to be 100% reliable!)

What about using the coin on a bike upgrade OBM. Dealers falling over themselves to turn over stock and always looking for good S/H bikes.
You get a newer one with a bigger engine, more tech and lower mileage. Always put your special bling onto the new bike.
I'm thinking mmmm....  Black Ultra, Road King, Road glide, Street Glide.

tempting, but I really like my FXBB, and it's only 2 years old. I only sold the '05 Dyna because we were moving from the US to here, and the $ to ship/register just didn't make sense (I was thinking just this morning that after 35 years of riding I've only actually owned 5 bikes... and the Street Bob was the only one I bought brand new!)

I have a SE ventilator on my Sport Glide. It uses a K&N element and is nice and slim so it doesn't get in the way of my leg.
It does come with a rain sock. The sock is also effective at keeping out bugs.

Mate I love my SE Heavy Breather for looks and functionality on the Fat Bob.
Originally I didn’t care for the rain sock either until I realised leaving it on also helps keeping the filter out of the elements (i.e. sun, bugs), which means I clean & oil it less.

Keep What you have, & look up Eastern Big Twin ( Dyno ). been told he knows his stuff.
    ask Brian what he recommends.

on a side note, yesterday , I had a new Harley 114 with short 2-2 V&H pipes, ride past. did not sound Like a Harley, I was trying to work out what it sounded like. Up the road was a guy on ride on Lawn Mower doing the Grass in park. & it sounded the same. ( was not over loud, just puzzling to work out what it was ) But nothing wrong with how they go. But to me the the feel & the sound, all part of what I like about Harleys.

Id try and save a bit more $$$ and just jump to a stage 2 kit.
Loads of different cam options out there and IMO with a decent tune is the best best bang for buck

I have the same bike and have an S&S Teardrop on mine, was the slimmest and least unobtrusive I could find. And it's black.
Also have Bassani Road Rage III 2-into-1 and Fuelpak FP3. Overall very happy with the setup. Changed final drive ratios as well and had to get help configuring it in the tuner to keep my speedo accurate and V&H tech support were top notch.

thanks all, some good things to go do a bit more research on and update my wish-list and hopefully find a way to support a local dealer during the slowdown

I have a similar set up and it’s been great.
Only issue I find with the FP3 is I can’t find service guys who’ll touch it, ‘nup, it’s rubbish throw it in the bin, we’ll only use the screaming eagle tuner’, I don’t know if it’s a matter or they don’t want to learn new things... I’ve had no problems with it, it does exactly what I need it to do.
