New in Townsville

    Hi guys,

This is my first post here on HD Forums. I'm pretty much a newbie to Harley's - I've previously been a Honda fan, owning a Hornet 600 and then a CBR 1000RR - but times change, and so does your idea of what a good looking bike is

I sold my CBR in 2015 as it was raining a lot in the Top End and I had nearly killed myself two or three times here in Townsville and up in Darwin.

I have always been looking at Harleys as the ultimate old age bike to have, but never really thought about one for a few years now.
The other day I saw a 2014 Fat Bob and had a test ride. Awesome bike, but the condition was fair .... really fair. I don't mind painting and polishing, but why start off with all that work if you could just about be riding all day.
Second bike was a 2014 Fat Bob before jumping on a 2017 Forty-Eight for shits and giggles. That one felt like my old Hornet back in the day.

Back to the Fat Boy ..... 2014 model, nearly impeccable condition, new tires and just serviced ..... what can I say, I rode her, fell in love and signed the dotted line a day later.
A few more days until I can pick her up, but I'll spend that time wisely making space in the garage and NOT ordering 5 million parts .....

    Cheers

    Tim

    Hi mate.
Missread ..... I test rode a 48 and a Fat Boy. Never owned one. She just felt like my Hornet 600 back in the day with wide handlebars.
Or better like Steve McQueen riding that bike towards the Swiss border in the movie "The great escape".
This obviously being a Triumph TR6 Trophy disguised to be a BMW R75.

Ha. Yep definitely misread. If you wanted to ride further than Ingham, then the 48 wouldn’t be much good! Enjoy.

Hahaha .... I'd say that the 48 is very good for throwing around corners going up the range to Paluma ... but yes, long journey's would be uncomfortable.
