Other states are now following - more rednecks with ridiculously massive open carry guns (at least they're free hey).

Hard to be a redneck when you come from the North of America..

Alright, alright, I use that label. Sure, they originated in the South but their type & ideology has exists & is networked through the entire country (a cursory websearch with the right keywords reveals all).

What would you call such a creature PB? A concerned citizen?

A ill informed and concerned citizen. On my visits to USA the most single thing that strikes me is how insular each state and county is regarding news. They really focus in their own local area and are more like our regional tv stations just showing local public interest stories. There are only 5 major broadcast networks and they seem more intent on political grandstanding and finger pointing rather than national and international news. The average American does not get a balanced and impartial story on either of those networks either so are very naive about matters to start off with. Its my guess these folks dont believe the press and are going about business the way they want to. As for the firearms, it is a little uncomfortable seeing someone walking into a supermarket in front of you with a H&K semi auto around his neck but you get the hang of it soon enough.
