While we're on the subject, what's this (not the fucking bottle)
The gadget is very well made and seems to contain mercury which flows down into the shaft when upended.

I believe it's a vintage explosion proof lamp.  I have poured over about 10k photos but still haven't been able to find a picture of that model.

These are "King Edwards", best spud ever invented. Roast, mash or chip they are lip smacking good. This lot from a 4 metre row after some exercise on the old ratty Honda four on a ripper Autumn day.

Unscrew the bugger... its doing my head in.  Definetly not thinking its a lamp as there would be a mas of wiring and heaters.  Leaning towards a position switch of some sort

I  built one when I bought the house 20 years ago and jammed it in to the same fork in the tree.
For two years nothing happenned but the parrots took a liking to it on the third year. crimson rosellas.
I  like that sort of shit. The parrots nested in it for the next 7 years  until last year when the bird box fell apart

Mate I like that kind of stuff too. Funny that a good little bird house in a tree was vacant for that long and once the right family found it they stayed in it until it fell apart. Are you gonna build another one or is that the new one in the sideways pic? I tried turning it around for ya but no luck.  I’ve got parrots, rosellas and all kinds of cool native birds near my place. Saw a pair of black (with yellow trim) cockatoos the other day which was a first. Never seen them around Canberra before but know they’re around here and in bigger numbers elsewhere.

I live near a lake with lots of park and trees all around it. And a good walking/cycling path. With the virus (plus Easter) I’ve never seen so many people exercising and families playing all sorts of games just like old times and having a good time. And I’m noticing lots of other things there like the black cockatoos. Some good things are coming of these times I never expected. Hope saying that doesn’t upset people who are sick, lost jobs, doing it hard or had loved ones die etc. as that’s not my intent. Gotta see the positive in things
I’m not a bird watcher or anything weird but kookaburras are about the only common native bird I’m not seeing around my place. Wish they were. After living overseas for a while you miss some of the cool stuff we have here. Off topic...

Geee.... we get chitloads of them here.  Love their singing.  We could ship ALL the cockatoos overseas though (I wonder if the asians would eat them?)
