Could it be a gadget for doing cornices or for finishing concrete on the outside of some buildings?

Whatever it is I reckon the answer is in that elaborate pattern.  What looks like that?

I have been plastering for 100 years and never see anything like it

OK all, It is a zuckerhuthalter, it holds a flaming, rum soaked sugar loaf for a Feuerzangenbowle.
A traditional German alcoholic drink for which a rum-soaked sugarloaf is set on fire and drips into mulled wine. It is often part of a Christmas or New Year's Eve tradition. The name translates literally as fire-tongs punch.
Here is a picture of one in use

Some good guesses and laughs for the answers.

    Cheers everyone.

I understand that in the good old days, women as a gift to their husbands would have all their teeth removed and get falsies to reduce ongoing dental expense.
