Just got back inside after half an hour looking up at the sky. It was a bit hazy and I didn't see any meteors  but a tawny frogmouth landed on the  hills hoist less than 10 feet away.
Almost made it worthwhile getting up so early.

Maybe it was looking for a feed of those maggots or maybe just to say "You idiot you should have been here the night before to see the meteor"

Dont know where you are getting your information from speedy but you are wrong as usual.
A quick google of  Eta Aquarid meteor shower should set you straight. It peaked Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday mornings.
If youre keen you will still be able to see it tomorrow morning but the full moon will make it harder to see.
The light cloud / hazy conditions was what spoiled it this morning for me. Maybe your not the astronomer you thought you were.
I havent googled the maggot thing but I will be surprised if you are right about that either.
Why am I even replying to  speedy?  I usually dont entertain idiots.

I just broke into one of these mud nest things. It looks like a maggot of some sort but its not wriggling.

Just in case anyone has nothing else better to do there is supposed to be a decent meteor shower tomorrow morning.
I set up a deck chair looking east and a shit load of warm clothes. I set the alarm for  4.15 am.  Apparently its the remnants of Halleys comet

The first time I  ate a roo was when we shot it  and  dragged it back to the campsite.

My mate said he would butcher it and I got the job to get the fire going.
He handed me a steak and I could feel it twitching in my hand as I dropped it onto the frying pan.
We let the steaks cook for a while and then tried to eat them but it was like trying to eat your boots.
I chewed on it until my jaws got sore then chucked it into the fire and drank beer instead.

Yep, you gotta process em right.

Gotta be cooked real slow or almost raw.

I always chuck it in the oven bag with a few ingredients and add a rock.
Then i cook it for 12 hours and eat the rock.
