So i see Dan Andrews publicly calling out a CEO regarding that persons links to a conservative Christian church in Melbourne. Last time i looked we were free to be able to practice all forms of religion in Australia without fear or prejudice.

Maybe you should do bit more research.
Andrews is a member of the Essendon Football Club and, like any other member, is entitled to express his views about appointments made by the club.
They seem to have made a poor decision with a recent appointment of CEO, to go with quite a few other poor decisions in recent times.

Thorburn released a statement shortly after the news of his departure became public, blaming today’s culture for not accepting his faith and ultimately costing him the role.
“Yesterday was one of the proudest days of my life. To be offered the role of CEO of the Essendon Football Club - who I have followed since I was a boy - was a profound honour,” Thorburn wrote.
“However, today it became clear to me that my personal Christian faith is not tolerated or permitted in the public square, at least by some and perhaps by many. I was being required to compromise beyond a level that my conscience allowed. People should be able to hold different views on complex personal and moral matters, and be able to live and work together, even with those differences, and always with respect. Behaviour is the key. This is all an important part of a tolerant and diverse society.
“Despite my own leadership record, within hours of my appointment being announced, the media and leaders of our community had spoken. They made it clear that my Christian faith and my association with a Church are unacceptable in our culture if you wish to hold a leadership position in society.
“This grieves me greatly - though not just for myself, but for our society overall. I believe we are poorer for the loss of our great freedoms of thought, conscience and belief that made for a truly diverse, just and respectful community.
“I am saddened by these events. I wish the Club success, and thank Dave Barham in particular for the opportunity he gave me. I hope the external review leads to great change. I am truly sorry that I will not be able to work with the whole Essendon team, and Brad Scott and Josh Mahoney in particular.”

Some very relevant stuff you missed out.
"Thorburn......... said he anticipated the public backlash after “little firestorms” surrounding his faith in his previous jobs."

He is chairman of a church group that has condemned homosexuality and abortion. Not a very good fit for AFL clubs which are trying to promote diversity and inclusion.

Industrial relations lawyer Josh Bornstein suggested Mr Thorburn may have a legal case against Essendon, noting that “religious belief or activity” is a protected attribute under the Victorian Equal Opportunity Act.
“This means that an employer is required not to discriminate against an employee by reason of religious belief or activity,”
The Christian lobby put forward the following view..
“The Essendon Football Club is only safe, inclusive, diverse and welcoming if you are not a practising Christian or, by extension, practising Muslim … The treatment of people such as Andrew Thorburn, Israel Folau and the Manly seven is a stark departure from the Australian way of being able to respectfully disagree, whilst defending the right of others to freedom of thought and belief.”

Bolt is an over-the-top conservative. Of course he would support Thorburn. He is Pell's No.1 supporter.

Really? Didnt see Manly force any executive team or even players to quit for their religious beliefs.

You must have been dropped on your head when you were a baby, multiple times.
At Essendon, the newly appointed CEO was in the job for less than a day , in the off season, before his incompatible relgious views became widely known and he was told he would have to choose between the job at the church and the job at the club.
Manly were approaching finals and needed a win. The club executive decided to put the team in gay pride jumpers without any consultation with the players. Seven of the Islanders stood out and the club lost a winnable game. Des and DCE spent time in the media trying to downplay the consequences but they could not sell it. Now Des is talking about sueing the club because they sabotaged his season .
    A major debacle !

I didn't see Manly break any laws in their "debacle".... I personally don't agree with the views of Thorburns church/any church but i would fight for their right to express their views. Just ask Israel Folau about religious discrimination...
