g,day.. just tried installing the harley headsets into crash lids .. bought the wife a new shark lid ( as posted) and struggled to get the headset clamp on the side of helmet , got it on but its not clamped correctly and could slide off .. thespeakers are really bulky so dont know how that will go until she tries it on .
i tried to fit them to my gmax flip up .. clamp was ok but again the speakers were way to bulky and uncomfortable as hell .. so took it off and tried it on my older shoei helmet , clamped on really well due to the thinner lip round base .. and speaker although big went into the cavity better due to it being bigger.
would have liked it fitted to my modular so im wondering if there is a solution with the speaker that anybody has tried , i dont really want to be hacking the helmets around if i dont have to .

More than likely you will have to dig out the styrofoam inside the helmet. Consider a soldering iron to melt it away. They are the most god awfully hard uncomfortable speakers I’ve ever seen. You should also have 2 sized clips on the headsets. That plug needs to also be pushed in very hard. There’s a number of threads on it.

luckily i dont have to dig out any styro for now , she said it seems ok.. its a snug fit but i imagine it will loosen up a little over time .. biggest problem i have right now is getting the units to stay on side of helmet as it keeps slipping off .. tried both clips bot both have same result , not real keen but may have to dig a little groove on side of helmet for it to bite into : /

could you glue on a thin strip of insertion rubber to hold it

    Wello,

I had the same issue with both my BMW helmet and my wife's Harley helmet when I bought the Ultra. Ended up solving it by using a blob of silicon on the side of the helmet and then pressing the intercom into that. Let it set overnight and been all good for about two years now.

I have done this on a few different helmets over the years with no apparent ill effects to the helmet itself. I always use a neutral cure silicon, a chemical engineer told me once that this does not give off acetic acid (? someone who knows more about this may correct me here) as it cures and so will not affect plastics etc. Apparently some of the plumbers silicons and the like can be quite aggressive or at least that is what what one of the manufacturer's chemists told me once when we were doing some research on this for work. I used to work for BMW motorcycle division in the USA so we did quite a lot of research and development work on different materials.

    Anyway, it worked for me.

    Cheers

im wondering if its possible to cut the big speakers off and replace them with some smaller ones ?
