and she's happy...ok guys, talking shocks here.
Finally bit the bullet and purchased some new rear shocks, got tired of the HD premium adjustables in 12 inch on my 17 SGS and purchased some 13 inch JRi dual adjustable rear shocks from Rob at RacingShocksAustralia.
Just did an 800km weekend with the bride and some friends and the real test for the new shocks is a section of road between Boorowa and Rugby, for any of you guys that have ridden this bit of road, to describe it as potholed is probably inaccurate, its more like its tarred in some spots. Anyway, previous runs over this road has provided some butt puckering moments and some airborne moments..not fun. Well today I covered that same section probably at least 20km/hr average quicker and a lot more confidently than I ever have. A quick stop at Crookwell cemented just how good they felt when my mates, one on a RK and the other on a dyna were both discussing get airborne and bounced wide on corners.
I procrastinated for a long time before dropping the money on these, but so far no regrets.
For anyone considering upgrading, its been said before but get the best shock you can with the longest stroke possible for you. With the sag set on mine, I don't notice any difference in ride height fwiw. Totally transformed my ride.

OK Doc, sounds like extra inch really does make the difference.
13 inches is really putting it out there.
Expensive?
Less $ than the ``````
Adjustment expansive?
Hard fit? (scrub that one) Are they difficult to install?
Fuckit.
Living on credit so wtf another coupla G's, plus we're all gunna die from the Apocalypse or is it not using dunny paper the fuckheads ...think Fuel, and Harley parts would be the priority.. fools, maybe a coupla cans of beans and beer.

I've had it stuffing around trying to get my Fornale shocker fixed, but will get part manufactured from engineering joint down the track.
The std is such as I may as well bolt up as a rigid. My excuse is am old, been spoilt from good shockers, and Mrs like to cycle up and down in comfort.
Picture would be good, if can B fucked with panniers. thx mate
Just checked the website for JRi Fantastic, shits over info on Fornales, is really comprehensive., with parts etc all avail easily..

Good one Doc, yep just dropped a bucket load on mine does ng both ends, huge improvement over in both performance and comfort.
You will still be loving it after the financial pain has been long forgotten.

Hey Baloffski. I just joined up on the forum & own Racing Shocks Australia. Thanks DocGreen for the review. Very pleased to hear as I have invested heavily in the business by taking on this brand.

My site shows some picks of the JRi units. I only stock the highest range units at present (dual adjustable compression & rebound & ride height adjustable) & have limited stock, feeling the market out. They are built in the USA but I am the authorized service dealer in Oz for them. I also cover the 12-month warranty & any revalves but don't expect the latter as they have 40 clicks of adjustment & have a wide range for various conditions.

RRP is $1565.00 including GST. I ran a promo in Heavy Duty magazine over Christmas which expired 29th of Feb. As they are current stock, I am happy to extend this offer if you let me know you heard about me from this forum but some T&C apply which I can discuss. Once current stock goes I will need to review the RRP as the exchange rate has dropped by more than 5 cents since I bought stock.

They also make fork internals for standard length & 1 inch shorter for later models. Product/models are available on the site or get in contact with us.

General info on JRi - the founder was the Penske Racing Shocks design guru for 25-odd years before starting his own company. Basically all of the shocks they make are of competition spec, designed for optimum performance & quality to match. With the racing background, they have mastered a way to make shocks for Harley & Indian bikes within a reasonable price point that also delivers comfort. The biggest complaint will always be price especially with the current exchange rate which is out of my hands but what I am offering is far cheaper than what anyone can purchase direct from them at present. I have factory support with any issues & which I can rely on for any issues or queries that I can't give a direct answer on.

Balof, the sweep valve for adjusting compression and rebound is very easy to tweak if needed, can reach under pannier without removing. I was going to soften it a few turns leading into the section of road i mentioned but didn't in the end so must have it pretty close to right for me. I'm about 1/2 way on the available adjustment and pretty much where Rob said to start at. Preload is easy enough by hand after taking the weight off the bike, once Ive settled on the correct measurement for ideal sag single and two up I really shouldn't have to adjust unless the bride is coming and it's literally 10-15 minutes tops, it'll be part of the pre ride checks.
Shocks are a straight swap and very simple change out.

Doc, sounds great, as I do like to have a fiddle, espesh if I've got 13 inches to tweak, or not tweak as the case may be.
Looking forwards, as I was going to get a pair of Race Tech for the front with Gold valves which I know work extremely well. But perhaps we will see how the jri goes on rear first, with pricing.
