g,day .. so the new ultra has the  digital tyre pressure indicators , rode to margs just recently and everything was fine had a quik flick through the readouts on the way and also on the way back and all seemed good .. parked the bike up for a couple of day then went to move it yesterday and i noticed the front tyre pressure had dropped ( think its in Kpa)
so down to bout 220 kpa = bout 32 psi so a drop of around 4psi .. i check tyre for ant nails etc and couldnt see anything and the tyre still felt pretty rock hard.

ive got no idea how accurate these tyre pressure indicators are to be honest . . so i went and bought a small compressor from bunnings . thought i would try it out on my car first and to my astonishment  nearly all my tyres bar one were running about 20 odd psi .. oops !!!!
then front wheel of bike and it was a bit low according to the (garage style pressure adaptor i also bought) .. havent compared both the bike and the compressor gauges for comparrison yet as unable to turn ignition on due to position of bikes in garage , but back to original question of how accurate is the  bike digital readout ?

Wello best pay a few $ and get a decent gauge. Don't use any other gauge. Ultra and any of the tourers are very pressure sensitive for decent tyre life. 42 rear 37/38 front.....cold pressures. And thats PSI

As a reference, best to compare all your readings from day to day cold -  just after you first ride off in the morning from your shed.

After you ride off - you won't be able to read the on board readings until the bike is moving (at least that's how it works on my BMW anyway) so take note of pressures just after you leave the shed before tyres warm up.
Can you get readings with your bike stationary?

so set off for a ride a couple of days ago on the ultra and took note of the tyre pressure ( kpa) . rear was about 270 .. and front was around the same ( bit high ) due to the pressure indicator on the new compressor , so i left it at that pressure just to see how it would pan out .
after riding for a few minutes the front began to rise steadily to around 290   ..and the rear was a bit slower to react which surprised me as we were 2 up , anyway once it did start rising it reached about 304kpa on rear and  294 to 298 on the front.  recomendations are 36 psi front .. 40 psi rear , so as the rear was already a bit low to start it had gained about 4 to 5 psi  in quite a short time, and it wasnt what i would call a stinking hot day either .

that was higher than i thought as i only imagined a couple of psi at max to be honest so i definatly need to find a good / if not the best pressure gauge .. and also check the pressures more frequently than i do, having said that i find that im checking the tyre pressure on the fly probably more than i need to just because its ther in front of me ; /

Take your tire gauge to a tyre mob and compare yours to their calibrated gauge.
+ 4 psi from cold to hot is about right.

g,day .. so yesterday i go to return the ultra back to the dealers AGAIN !!! .. ( engine warning light on ) .. and i take a quik scroll through the info and get to tyre pressure and the rear tyre is indicating almost 350 kpa and front around 320 + . only just got bike from garage and gone maybe 1 or 2 k,s  ..then as i ride a bit further it just goes from numbers and says  HIGH on the rear  .. wtf is that all about. wasnt even a hot day .
