Way of Topic for a bike forum but cheers for your help
I'm getting split system quotes for a granny flat, one room 6mt x 4mt full Besser block walled room under my house ( coolest room in the house )
No sun gets into the room 2mt High ceilings insulated.
2 quotes say 5kw systom Daikin
2 quotes say 2.5 Kw system Daikin
Just rang Harvey norman for my 5th quote and asked about a Mitsubishi they recon if the system is to big 5kg over a 2.5kg it will make the room go moldy ???
    My questions are.
    Is Mitsubishi any good
Is a 5kg system in a small room a bad thing?
Any extra advise would be awesome
House is beach side in cairns

    Thanks heaps

Better to have a small system running at capacity than a big system that’s not required, they’re more efficient that way. I’m not a mech engineer but I did work in an engineering firm for 10 years doing their marketing, I picked up bits n pieces.
Mitsubishi are fine, daikin domestic are ok but expensive (and our domestic market stuff is made in Thailand and several generations behind the latest Japanese systems).
Stick to a name brand and it’s hard to go wrong, it’s the cheap shitty no name Chinese things to be worried about.

Mitsubishi, they are the best for stopping the Geckos getting into the CPU and frying it.
I can get you the number of the guy that just replaced my dead Fujitsu.
Pm me if you want his details.
Have a cheap guy who does the cleaning if you need him too.
At least every other year, works for me.

This is from my bro inlaw who is an aircon tech
I'd use a 3.5kw If it is a very cool room. Maybe a 5kw if it was a real sunny room.

No unit will make the room get mouldy. But air conditioners that never get much fresh air and sunlight tend to get mouldy inside quicker
And Mitsubishi are good. I'd use a daikin in a room like that. I know they have filters that can help with mould in some cases.

My evap cooler works a treat on all bar two days a year ... though smokey weeks like we’ve had stuffed up my smugness recently.
I’d have to say it - a strength of this forum is the non-bike threads like this one. Cheers for sharing the lived experience. Too many things these days just have opinion, not experience.

+1 . Told the same thing by a local installer on the Sunny Coast. The Heavy Industries model is the product he mentioned

Well after about 7 quotes some $600.00 above others one suggested install 5kg system and plug it into a power point, highly illegal
One installer when quoting, I asked to look at a dead Daikin split in my house, he told me its not 5 years old and within a week came back and replaced the parts and 3Hr labor free of charge and now working awesome. Because of this and price an the house has already 6 Daikin splits,
I went with a Daikin 5kg system, after all my looking around the Mitsubishi ( not Heavy industries ) was a stand out.

Thanks for all the advise ....now to install SOLAR so over to read Pauls post a few more times

    Cheers HDF
