so as some of u are aware ive had delivery of the new ultra limited .. only had it 2 days and was spewing oil out everywhere so i had to take it back in.
3 days later i get call to come and collect bike,   the explanation being = missing pushrod seal.. no apology or nothing just handed over the keys and that was it.
so i take a quik look at bike and all seemed reasonably clean so i get on my way, i stop at lights and look down and suddenly realize its almost out of fuel ( went in with between 1/4 and half tank ) .. im like fk its in the red , then i look at the k,s and its now done 333 , went in with 260.
so ive been sittin here gettin angry as fk wondering where have the extra 70 odd k,s come from thats a long friggin way .. 10 or so i can understand  so before i get on the blower and twist off im wondering is that really feasable to use 70 + k,s to fint the fault .

Short answer is no with a caveat......they first attempt at a fix would have been a simple wrigle of the pushrod cover to see if it was seated followed by a short ride then inspect. Once it was realised it was still leaking it gets escalated to starting to pull things to bits to find out why then the subsequent ride to check it.......oh and to go get morning tea for the boys, ton of storage space on an ultra....

one other thing .. ive also noticed this bike seems to be running really hot, every time i stop the fans are running .. it has been a bit warn but no worse than when i had my other ultra , as i parked it up and shut the garage door .. i went out a short while after to grab a beer and my garage stunk of burning smell.. was quite alarming to be honest ..
maybe its just me but it wasnt overly hot yesterday , around 31 here in perth i think, when i got off the bike the sweat was pissing out of me and i basically had to strip off lol
i really cant remember my old ultra being anywhere near as hot as this , my left leg was bloody roasting.

Stock tune being very lean might explain the heat.
Yeah 70 sounds a bit high, even  with a few test runs.
    Definitely keeping my Dyna.

I would expect 30-40 assuming two runs - one to confirm the issue and the other after repair.  Both need to be a good length to make sure the bike is fully up to temps etc.

Seems high but surely the shop has plenty of bikes to lend to ppl to ride. Why risk doing more km’s than required on a customers bike in there for warranty work?

Agree with JFE, doubt they've been using it for joy rides.

Problem maybe took a little longer to diagnose and maybe a mechanic did take it home for a test run but as long as it's fixed all good?

Leaving the thing with no fuel in it though ....

Nah, that’s 100% not ok. I’d be wanting an explanation and an apology for that. 70Kms is not acceptable. Neither is the initial problem, that’s what pre delivery inspections are for.
I’m in Perth and my bike came with tyres set to 32 and 36psi and head bearings that have more slop than a well used prozzie on overtime. Just not acceptable.

i tend to agree with you .. i dont think it should have taken them that long to find the leak at all.. bike should have been on a ramp and running in gear etc ..they already knew the aprox location of the leak .. so to clock up 70 k,s ..use nearly all the fuel and not top it back up .. and then not even apoligise kind of shits me

The really shitty bit is the fuckers charge you for the per delivery work, and then do a piss poor job of it.
Yeah I would say something to the dealer about it wello, might not get any joy, but you never know.
    Good luck.

Definitely wouldn’t be happy with the situation maybe they had it at the front as demo
For two days  makes you wonder.

i very much doubt they stuck it out front , it may be possible they just ran it o the ramp .. pretty sure it would still clock up the k,s by doing that and then maybe a road test, if thats the case then i could swallow that .. just would piss me off if i thought someone was riding it around just for the sake of it.
bought a car once from toyota ( brand new) .. i was offshore when it arrived at the dealership, by the time i got back to pick it up it had 105 k,s on it .. the fkr,s had used it as a demo as it was the only manual around .. i bumped into one of the sales guys who had left the dealership and he confirmed it .
