so just recently took delivery of the new bike ( ultra limited) .. so far ive done around 200k,s , today while out after stopping for lunch we noticed there was a bit of oil on and around the right side of engine .. after looking a bit more closely it was a lot more oil than i first though.
my other ultra used to leak a bit of oil from the air cleaner bit it was just a very small drip .. the fkn oil on the new bike was everywhere.. all over the exhaust , side panier, bars, fair bit running inside the base of the heads, barrels, evn up on the rear seat .. all over the wifes boots and all over her jeans ( she was not amused)  .

i think that again its coming from the back of the air cleaner but its waaaaay more than ive ever seen .. i think they would have done something when they changed new hi flow filter and tuned.. .. i have the new sportglide and thats just standard but i get no oil at all leaking from that air cleaner ..  anybody throw some light onto this ?

Wait 12 hours and ring the dealer tomorrow morning.
I do remember a couple of the fellas saying that despite their best knowledge and intentions, they had overfilled causing oil to leak out near air cleaner. I'll see if I can find it. Might help

That sucks bro, I hope for your sake the dealer has just over filled the engine oil, is the ultra a 2019 or 2020 model? I've done 7000k's on the Lowrider S and had no prob's at all, although I don't check the oil level as much as I probably should, I hope the dealer sorts it ASAP, keep us informed

Mate... DO NOT clean the bike.
Take it back to the dealer with her shoes and jeans and crack the chits with them!  Its their job to make sure the bike is Roadworthy by law, and they have not done so in this case.  Be bloody thankful that the oild did not et under the rear tyre on a curve in the road or things could have gone south very quickly.

They also need to clean it and pay you for damage done to clothing!

yep get what ur saying but i did have to try cleaning it up a bit as we were still out and had to ride back home and for the exact reason u have stated ( oil on rear tyrwe) is why i thought better to try mop some of it up , i dont wanna be to demanding as i did get an extremely good deal from them and i dont want to wreck all that .
going there today so see how it goes !

Heck you blokes are so militant!  New bike, problem, need fixed and trying to build relationship with dealer. Ranting and raving ain’t gonna help. Save dumping the missus clothing on the counter until you get the bike back. Good luck.

Your not wrong...  But folks fork over a chitload of money for new motorbike with an expectation that it works well.  I'm not saying be rude to the dealer, but be firm as they have dropped the ball.

Wello I think I read that you are in Perth so I`m sure there`s only one Harley place atm  & thats in Cannington I have dealt with them plenty ,I bought my new Roadking from them , They come along when Frasers where getting a very bad reputation. they always had great customer relations with every one that I know of that went there, including me, I`m sure just showing them the bike & the damage to clothing ect  will have a positive result good luck

Wello, understand your frustration mate but I'm sure it'll get sorted for you.  I too was lent an m8 streetbob when I had issues with my clutch recall (17 SGS ) and know what you mean by the ergonomics, nothing that couldn't be fixed by paying the HD tax, did like the new softail frame and suspension though.
Awesome looking bike BTW (the new one, not the loaner)

You got this arse about face.  Take it all back to the Dealer, tell them you want it fixed and replaced and sooner rather than later.  You want a good relationship with the Dealer, than the Dealer has to get off his arse and resolve the issue that you, the customer who just paid big $$$ for a brand new bike, have experienced.  If he wants your ongoing business and maintain a good reputation, the ball is in his court.  Being warm and fuzzy with the dealer just means he will bend you over a little more and drive it deeper.

i dunno bout that mate, perth harley are always extremely busy .. both in sales and service .. i went there yesterday and i got what i was expecting considering the very short notice .. when i bought my first bike from them ( sportglide) because i was a friend of a friend of the head sales guy they gave me a good deal on the bike and fitted all the extras for free .. bassani exhaust , new seat , quik release sissy.
they gave me more than i paid for my trade in , and quite a large drop in the price of the new one, and heavily discounted the extra i had put on.
yes the wife was pissed off about the oil on her but there is no way im gonna go in there and start demanding shit and ruin the relationship just coz of a pair of jeans,
they discount the shit out of everything i buy from them.. really the only thing that shits me are the service costs but soon i can do what i like anyway : )

A $2 can of engine degreaser will sort the jeans out!
Worked on my jeans when I had a similiar issue (NEVER strap a 4l container of used oil to the sissy bar as the lid comes off!)

lol .. yeh that would make a mess hahaha !,   least it was behind you.
ive been told that when they ship these bikes they have no oil in them, dunno if thats true or not .. so im guessing that for the amount of oil that came out that they over filled it, as ive been looking through forums etc and it seems its the heavy breather ac that creates the problem .. my other ultra did the same but it was a miniscule amount .. and ive noted several other bikes doing the same as well.
