Hi from Freo from a first time Harley owner. Owned a few Jap and the odd Brit bikes in my younger days. Though nothing for a few years.
The old man joined the “Riders in the Sky” chapter last year and left me his ‘97 Evo Road King. Finally managed to get up to Geraldton and rode it back down recently.
He only racked up 16,000km on the girl so the trip down added some 500k’s on her straight away.
As you can image there’s not a whole heap of urgent work to be done as it’s still in near showroom condition haha. Will get a new seat for her fairly soon as I found it a bit tight space wise being 6’4” and all. Then probably a new set of bars to get comfy.
Looking forward to getting the kids on the bike for some weekend runs as they loved going out with the old man for trips when we went to visit him. They’ve all ready started calling her “our Harley” so looks like the next generation of riders is getting ready (few years yet, they’re 6 and3 haha).
Sorry if this was like a “Dear Diary” entry, just wanted to say G’day and hope you all have a safe 2020.

Welcome mate and condolences for the loss of your father.
The statement "there’s not a whole heap of urgent work to be done as it’s still in near showroom condition haha" will almost certainly come back to haunt you as you learn just how much money you'll throw at it "personalizing" it with things it doesn't really need. Ask probably anyone on here how we know.
Safe riding and enjoy.

Welcome Shaun..................I ended up with 16" apehangers on my Roadking, they were great for me being on the taller side................no regrets at all and would not hesitate to do again if I ended up with another HD tourer

Aye again Shaun, was just thinking, what an interesting beginning of a relationship with your 'old mans motorcycle'.
Geraldton to pickup, then the return trip to lovely Freo.
Yup, there will be a time if not already, begin to make her your special Harley, a name is always a good start, and thats free.
An Evo Road King, your old man had taste in motorcycles.
Am sure that you'll ennjoy this forum and your bike.
