Ok from the old shovel days it was all imperial, since then i have come into the modern era to a 2010 road king and love it. So question i take it that its still imperial or is there a mixture on the bikes now? As i have all metric tools as the imperial went with the last shovel i sold. Do i have to re tool up again.

Keep all your old tools mate and be very careful when youre working on the bike.
I don't know about the modern bikes but my 2002 fatboy has a mixture of metric and imperial.
It  can be a pain in the arse.

I only use imperial on my girls.  Never had the need to look for a 10mm socket, however the continual searching for a 1/2" socket is another story.

I paint my 1/2" sized tools RED so they stand out on the bench/floor/toolbox.

My '19 Sport Gilde appears to be a mixture. Even down to accessories. I actually have a rack that has a metric Allen head bolt and an imperial one on the same part!
In general if the component was USA made it will have imperial, if it was made anywhere else it will have metric, but there are no rules. I have three sets of Allen keys in holders. One red for imperial, one blue for metric, and one green for all those Torx fasteners.

Everything that I've played with on my '19 Street bob has been imperial that I can remember but the Street 500 is 100% metric. Which would come as no surprise to anyone I imagine.

My 2016 fattie has a mixture, I've noticed that many of the aftermarket parts come with metric hardware, especially if you order it from European vendors.

I have a small motorcycle repair shop that does custom work on everything from new HD's to Shovels, old Brit bikes and new Triumphs. I have three roll cabs packed with tools and still find I come up short on occasions...great excuse to hit the tool shop! ;)

Say what you will about Japanese bikes/cars but if you have a screwdriver, a set of Allen keys, and 8,10,12,13, 14, 17,19mm sockets, you can do 90% of all jobs on those.
European stuff you'll need to break out the rest of your socket set, your funky square drive (Eg Citroen oil drain), and some torx heads as well.
Then for American/Australian made you need all of that plus the same again in Imperial sizes.
