Hi All,
Sorry if this has been discussed in the past but I couldn't find anything that was recent.
I was trying to find out how good or bad the stock headers are. Im contemplating a changing them or de-cating the stock headers as I want to upgrade the cam in the future, at the moment is as stock 103 with stage 1, Supertrapp slip on muffler. The cam will be nothing two wild as Im not going to increase capacity put just want to get the most out of a 103.
If the stock headers are fine thats good just trying to work out a budget, but at the same time im getting sick of the vibrating/rattling heat shields.
Regards

Decat is the go. Tested a std set with out cat and a aftermarket on my 103 and the aftermarket did produce a very small gain but not worth the $600 asking price. My std decat system works fine

Thanks Pauly,
Did you do the decat yourself?

leachy, have a 103 bought new in 2012, removed the cat not long after.
There should be a shit load of info in forum on how to.Is a piece of piss, even I could do it, although I did take it to a privately owned exhaust joint who welded it back up for 20 or 25 dollars, total cost.
Evidently, the standard headers are a reasonably good design and as pb states why purchase new if std are ok, with slight improvement on run of the mill, head jobs.
