About to upgrade the suspension, does anyone have a Dyna with piggy back rear shocks and HD Saddle bags ? Not sure I can fit both.

Hi Ken,
I was told that the standard HD stuff that I was looking at wouldn't fit by Harley Heaven, so ended up going with Progressive 940's. But I didnt check this for myself as I had no way of doing that.

Looking at a few US posts, it looks like running the shocks with the reservoir fwd is no issue performance wise as they only have the nitrogen in them, the oil and gas are not supposed to mix, do should be all good. Will confirm with Joe however.

Ken,
I have the HD quick detach saddle bags on my wide glide, the piggy back to the back would not fit.

Thanks Benno, same bags as mine by the looks.
Running them fwd looks to be the plan.
I don't have the battery box bag like you have, do should be ok.

The shocks I have are Ohlins STX36, very happy with them, paid around $1300, set for my weight, I have the single rate springs and gold valves up front also, they took a little time to get the right combo of spring and oil amount, but worth the effort.

Good to know mate.
Going for the piggy back units for a few reasons.
Fully adjustable for one, and it gets bloody hot up here in summer, so they should last longer and resist fade a little better.
I did look at Ohlins and they are about the same price point as the K Tec R4's but Joe recommends the KTec over the Ohlin ones for crappy road conditions. Says they perform about the same, just the KTec seem to last longer and cope better with rough roads.
Happy for any input from someone with them however, nothing is locked down yet.

A big friend of mine (everyone is big from my ‘vertically-challenged’ perspective) went with Fournales shocks (replacing the chrome Fat Bob ones as you are).
And, like the writer of this article, he wished that he put them on long before.

Plenty of good comments on hdforums too.
Cheers.
