Hi HD Forum crew.....per above, just back from living and riding in the US for a while. Brought my 2014 FLSTN with me, just couldn't part with it, although I had to make some minor changes to get it registered, pipes, bars, some lighting etc.
Probably need to ask this in the main section, but I just jumped through all the rego hoops and have the plate, but the licence plates and holders are smaller in the US (18cm x 10cm v 215cm v 10cm for the Aussie). Stupid question maybe, but am i just missing a backing plate or something? I can't drill new holes as they would go through the actual lettering.
Thanks for the join....
Richard.

Welcome back home & to the forum Richard.
You might need to buy a plate frame. Can you post a photo of your issue?

Not exactly sure what you mean but why not just drill the new number plate and bolt it on.
If you find you've drilled through the numbers just paint the bolt the same colour.
My bike is imported and the holder is also smaller than the plate but two cable ties hold it on just fine.
Apparently cable ties are illegal to attach a number plate but who gives a fuck?

Hey guys, thanks for the welcome. I looked at loads of photos of bikes online that came from the US, folks just drill holes in the plate and be done with it. Fugly solution, but it seemed to work ok. Now to put my true duals and 16" apes back on and ride...... :-)
I'll post a pic up a bit later Wideglider....cheers!
