Been looking at these for awhile and wondering if they would be good or shit, used to just wear steel blue work boots for riding, then moved to hiking boots, last ones were HiTech, good boot, wore them everywhere, actually still have them but wanted ankle stability, anyway the Sharks were on special so I took a punt, had them for a few weeks now, had to move my shifter lever up a notch on the spline and relearn the feel but now I'm used to them I like them, can relax the feet and legs and the boots take the weight, can wear them all day without pain, the jeans hide most of them, good boot I reckon.

    They look solid Hilly.
I'm still sporting some FXRG things from HD that I got second hand five years back. Solid, waterproof and comfortable to walk in. Good combo.

HD's latest caught my eye but would want to see them in the flesh. Glad they have a good Vibram sole on them:

Lie you Hilly just replaced my old hiking boots with a Rjays boot . So much harder to walk in and being shorter boot my jeans end up above the boot! Not loving my purchase yet

Ha Ha guess its for older bikes as well with rt hand gear change, or you could sit on the tank and change gears perhaps

    G'day,
when I was much younger I bought a pair of Medal hand made boots. The man had a little shop in Fitzroy, I think. They were great, fit was perfect, I could ride all day, walk, and they looked good. This was about 55 years ago, and the last mention I saw was that the old man had died and his son wasn't interested in boot making.  Has anyone heard any different ?

Gone, gone, gone. They were brilliant boots though, waterproof leather, custom made if you wanted. Able to be repaired. Sadly missed, as are Oz made GP boots.

Less and less all the time unfortunately. Most of those left, apart from RM Williams, make pop out urethane soled work boots. Redback and Mongrel are still made in Oz. The poly urethane soles mean that the boots have a use by date even if they are never worn. After about 3 years on average, the soles will crumble, high humidity speeds it up.
One of the last mobs making boots here with nitrile rubber soles, Taipan boots, folded last year. Great boots, I still have a pair for my issue bush fire brigade boots. Maybe look for smelter boots, they are exxy, but are probably nitrile rubber soled, will have a leather protective flap over the laces.
John Rebs are at least an Oz business, not sure if .the boots are still made here since the new owners about 5 years ago. Good tough boots if you like the style.
But whatever you get, they won't be as good as Medal boots were.

I've still got a pair of GP's. I've had them for at least 35 years, and got them from the disposal's. I only wear them on long trips now, as they are still more waterproof than my other boots. Will need a resole eventually though.

3 years on, Sharks are still doing it, they just a short dirt bike boot but good support for the ankles, shame the Aussie made stuff is disappearing, RJ's are nice boots but pull ons fly off ya feet in a tumble, 100% know that as a fact lol
