you can run anything in these things besides baby oil and olive oil :)

people overthink this topic way too much, the USA forums guys literally get in full on arguments over this shit.

Gotta love these "what type of oil do you use?" posts!

Stick with oil spec for your riding conditions as per manual (weight, viscosity)
Been using Castrol gtx20w 50,  goto .a 10w-40 in winter

Used penrith once, found very thin compared to other 20w-50

By wiping the dipstick and rubbing the oil between your thumb and index finger. .
Not very scientific but we all do it!

    Syn 3. Is good,

    but not essential.

Syn 3 also contains mineral oil, other words it's not 100% synthetic.
Where as Mobil V twin is.

Penrite every time. HD don't own oil factories - Penrite gives Australians jobs.  We have nearly fucked or sold off every old Oz industry. Support the one's left that are still Australian owned and provide a world standard product.

I have been using Penrite of late myself , in my own Harley and all my mate's bikes. You could say I am now a "convert" !

MC 4ST 10W-60 in the engine oil tank AND Primary drive , comes in 4L , PRO GEAR FULL SYNTHETIC 75W-85 in the transmission, comes in 1 and 2.5L.

I get it locally , and on 20% off days and the like , from Supercheap Auto 5 K's from the house.

In the past I have used Mobil 1 ,and/or Redline ( hard to get in WA now since Coventry's stopped carrying it on the shelf !)

For the same "local" reason I have been using Penrite in my V8 Commodore motorsport and my daughter's 2016 Suzuki 4 cylinder.

    That's 5W-40 ENVIRO+ DEXOS 2 ( necessary for Holden/GM new car warranty) comes in 10 litres , 7 in the Commodore and 3 in the Suzuki !

Noticed the OP hasn't got back yet - probably furiously still taking notes of the replies (with head spinning).

Gulf Western range looks very good also. Quite a few "pro's" using it. Castrol gtx is a bit dearer now..
Used to get it discounted heavily at supercheap but not anymore

I run the local fish & chippie and am a recycler, so it goes in all 3 holes once I'm finished with it in the kitchen,

The springer loves it and it has a lovely after smell when cooling down.
