2015 fat bob ignition problem

Hopefully someone can shed some light on this. My 2015 fat bob ( just purchased) can be started while the ignition is locked. Has anyone come across this before and is there an easy fix .

will the lights, horn etc also work with ign off and engine running.
BCM may be in key-less mode, That's how I have mine set

Not seen that before, you would think there might be something wrong with the ignition switch?

With the tank switch off and locked, everything works as soon as the ignition is flicked on, lights ,horn, engine

You will need to take it to your dealer to have it taken out of key-less mode, Only takes a few minutes

Desmos does your fob look like a car remote? Cause if it does your bike might be fitted with an aftermarket keyless ignition module, they work as you describe yours behaving, I have not heard of what FatBags is saying before so I googled it and that's as plausible a reason I could find.

The Dyna "S" came out with a key-less ignition feature (no ignition switch), I done this on my fatbob, It still uses the fob just no ignition switch, You use the run/stop switch on the handlebar to turn the bike on and off.

Thanks for replying FatBags, so how do they convert them? Must be parts involved surely?

No parts, just programmed at the dealer. Ignition switch can then be removed. (or leave it there to trick the thieves)
This can be done on models with BCM (body control module),, I think from about 2013 up. mine was 12/2014.
I found this out because I changed my wiring harness to the Dyna S harness to give me FBW throttle and cruise control.
Then discovered no plug for ign switch, So then had to run temporary wire to BCM to power bike up, Until I had it programmed at the dealer.
That cruise control has saved licence more than once, So hard to keep that 131ci under the speed limit.
My only worry is watching the tread depth change on my rear Tyre after every ride, Even the short rides.

Never knew it could be done, thanks for sharing that cobber, appreciate it, I've got a slim S, love the cruise :)

Yep thanks for the heads up, wonder if I can do my 2012 Fatbob pretty sure it has a BCM. CC would be awesome.

Hey Grease Monkey, my fob is a genuine Harley unit.
The only thing that bothers me with this setup is that some fool can walk past and tamper with it by turning lights on or even starting it up if I'm in proximity.
Am I thinking right that if I'm not nearby with the fob then they can't do anything??
Thanks for your input Fatbags I appreciate the detail you guys have provided.

Yep I'm on board now, it was new to me, I guess some clown could flip the switch on you and try to start it, alarm would go off though would it not? if you want your lockable barrel back in play it's of to the dealer I guess.

Start button will not work unless fob is present, or you have entered your 5 digit security code.
My fob will only work within about 2 meters of the bike.

BCM's were on 2014 models but were they on the 2012 model?
Interesting as never heard of BCM till now, then I see that there sere recalls on faulty BCM's on the Breakout and Softails in 2014.
