    Scuzz,

Good to hear you are pushing it to the limit.
I tried the Fair Trading route here in NSW, and was told that HD do not cover wheels, and that it was a cleaning problem.
No one would even listen to, or consider the fact, that the Bike spends three months or so, in a container, on top of a boat, ON THE OCEAN.
Unless the would has flipped on it's head, the ocean is made up of SALT and water.
    Go figure?

Hearing later this am. If I am not heard from again, it means a confidential settlement was entered into, which will mean I got all my corrosion covered. PS Fair Trading are/ were  powerless. I m at the level of QCAT

Its interesting that Hd want you to sign a document gagging you from commenting on a matter where they have breached your legal rights under the consumer laws in Australia. More interesting is that a Arbitrator would allow you to waiver such rights.

    I wish Scuzz luck.
His bike was obviously a lemon in the rust department.
Sometimes you have to stand your ground and not put up with shit.
Had a transporter bust my heated hand grips when tying down my bike.
I asked them to cough up for the damage and they refused, obviously hoping I would give up at it.
Not me, didn't get a BFA (hons) and a PHD in LSD and a trade certificate for nothing. Aside from the job in Mc Donalds.
Sent them a few well constructed letters explaining why they should pay up and they did.
You do have to work at it though.

    Hi guys,
    I'm signing off forever.
I no longer own a  HD.
Successful outcome for me  at hearing.
Warranties do mean something when enforced.
Thank you everyone for your support.

Hazarding a guess that, the consumer laws forced the dealer to comply with the three r"s.......replace, repair or refund. Guessing refund option was ticked

What the Fork ….i read the entire 8 pages and had beers whilst doing it THEN you signed off ?????

Would love to know the outcome here GCHD do seem a tad difficult to deal with

GOOOD ON YOU for taking it to the limit ……..please don't say "no" to another HD though

At least you could try a 2nd hand one as by that time any rust would be either there or not wouldn't you say

    Cheers

Like Kateo I read the whole 8 pages, and absolutely well done to the OP.

Like the OP my bike is a Street Bob, first HD I’ve owned after the Japanese, Italian etc track.  Love the grunt and  the comfort etc, but from the get go was amazed (in a bad way) of the roughness of the build.....but hey, my Italian Bike whilst looking nice, certainly wasn’t perfect either.

WRT Resisting rust I found a product called ACF 50...it is from the Aviation Field and when sprayed does not interfere anyway in the electrics, but seriously inhibits rust...aircraft are the biggest rust magnets known to man!!!

In researching the product, and prior to putting my hard earned into buying a few litres I found some You Tube guys from Great Britain who applied it yearly to their bikes due to the rust issue caused by salt that is applied to public roads in order to make the roads “ice resistant”.

I have no affiliation whatsoever to to the company that produces the product, and think it sucks that such a product might be needed to resist rust on a brand new bike.     But applying ACF 50 might just stop some serious heartache...I know that it helped me out.

Sorry to repost on an old post...if it is not right please delete.
