Your right GM, i also don't understand why corrected comps are seen as some indicator of an engines setup, in all the years i have been doing this i have yet to see a cam ,piston or performance part manufacturer use this number in any indicator of what their products are intended for. Among the people i regularly converse with on product application, none refer to corrected comps. Its mechanical comp, cam timing [at a defined lift point] and air flow that are the subject of discussion every time.

As a user of all these parts i would come back to what works in practice, i have seen combos spruiked as the be all and end all of performance heaven, they have yet to take over the world , the ones that have been built and proven in practice are the ones that are repeatable.

Maybe someone else could chime in on the implication and relevance of corrected comp?? I'm all ears, i am prepared to learn something.

    Cheers.

GM , it is my belief the aim is to produce a stellar torque curve on the dyno sheet in order to sell more parts. That's only my idea though. I may be a little cynical. I guess if doing drag racing it may be ok due to very controlled consistent fuel and very short time of use. ??

Hoody I'm pretty sure around here you are the teacher and if you ever get around to a war and piece on cams there is a receptive audience waiting.

Makes sense Lushy, I've seen a few posts over the years where an owner that does big miles has complained about a high strung build they were talked into being a pain in the arse to live with, usually a bagger though so a lighter bike might give you more wiggle room?
There has also been more than a few posts where people say they talked to the cam manufacturer and a certain cam was recommended for their build only to be talked into something completely different online, the flipside to those is the ones that go with the manufacturers recommendation and say my bike runs great but how do I get my left side up? which probably means their piece of laminated paper is not holding up against their buddies in the bar.

Thanks for all the replies men, appreciate your time and thoughts.
