I have the 20S sena, I cant get it to work on the system, the I-phone hooks up, then it gets priority to the bike, and not to the Sena, I then miss calls and have to ring them back later, I have disconnected it

Mate, my understanding is, as long as you have the whim module you can use whatever brand handsfree unit you like BUT only the HD branded SENA made units will give you stereo sound.
If you have the newer BOOM GTS unit this could be different.
Personally, I purchased a Cardo paktalk duo kit for the sausage wallet and myself and bluetoothed to our own phones so we each listen to our own music and can still chat when needed.

Have you looked on Google. It's quite widely discussed. Basically as I understand it, it seems that most bluetooth headsets including many in the sena range will pair with the WHIM / BOOM but only the Harley branded 20S (and now the audio 30K) will take advantage of the better high fidelity sound features of the WHIM. That's why they are more expensive. I know many headset distributors / riders were scathing of Harley for doing this. The law abiding Biker (youtube) discusses it in some more detail but his blog videos cost. You can get sound with other units but in most cases, poor sounding mono and less features.
Didn't the bike come with one / more headsets? Good luck
Edit: just saw your post DG.
