GM, what sort of hose did you use? I like the lines of the 'set' going down to the bottom of the frame

Hose is just 5/16 fuel line from Supercheap, the bottom section is 10mm stainless tube, on the bottom of that is one of those s shaped rubber lines off an air leaner so it goes over the frame, shot from underneath....

If you are going to the effort to drill and tap for external lines try and make the internal passages as big as possible, is drill out the hole in the breather bolt as much as you safely can and it's cross holes as well, then use fittings with internal bores that don't restrict that size, if you go to a Tee use a slightly larger bore on the single line, lots of ways to set this up, as long as the basics are ok then it comes down personal preference on how it looks, into a can or to ground is up to the individual, if you drag race at the strip you will need a can, legalities.

I like the look of a solid line, smaller on the outside so it's less obtrusive to the eye, well at least for me.

That'll work, but, always a but aye, if it's a dripper you will notice it.

i'm thinking that way also, see how it turns out.
if so, turn the breathers into catch cans

For sure, most likely be ok, a little here and there won't faze you I'm thinking, it's only if it makes a mess constantly that would be cause for real concern

Right on, nice and neat job.....just painted obviously? Here I was thinking you'd found some wizz bang tube with metal braid to strengthen and also hold its shape! Your not an instro by trade are you?

Would be interesting to see the tops of the pistons if you run these external breathers

    Trust me, they are clean.
Any cleaner, and it would melt !
The main part to look at is the porcelain.
Maybe a little rich down low (bottom of threads)

Just a thought but has anyone considered sourcing a small one way valve that could be attached into the exhaust system

That way you can attach the end of the breather hose into the exhaust system just as we did in the old days with the race cars

the small one way valve may be a little difficult to source but I an sure its out there

Google Vac-U-Pan I am sure you will get a better understanding of what I am talking about

Or even a puffer/mister.  It could potentially blow back onto the exhaust pipes as well - time will tell.

Hi Lushy, in your experience, do you think installing an external breather system is something worthwhile say from both a performance and longevity perspective?

Whether you’re good at reading plugs or not, I thought that was something mainly only relevant to cars and bikes with carburettors. Unless an engine had a major fuel mixture problem which would highlight the need for a proper, educated tune.
Fuel injection controls fuel so precisely on so many levels that I don’t think one can simply look at the colour of a spark plug and  suggest a change to one particular table across the board. The beauty of fuel injection is that you can view data and see what the bike is doing as opposed to guessing by the colour of a spark plug. You don’t make changes across an entire table but address only those parts of tables that need adjusting. Should be left to the pros I reckon.
