G'day blokes, I have an 03 883 sporty project on the go and am looking to buy a front mag rim. I found one to suit an 07 soft tail but uncertain of the axle/hub sizing. The owner of the rim tells me he cant work out the size so I rang a Harley dealer who told me there was pretty much no way of knowing short of measuring the axle diameter (or the hub cos the rim is off the bike).
Does anyone either know the diameter of the softy rim or can measure it on their bike?
Thanks in advance for the knowledge guys.
An aside, I bought my battery from 4WD Extreme and came in @ $108 for the YTX20HL......LONG way from Battery World Yuasa @ $279 or MotoBatt @ $234

Must be a lead acid at that price  don’t think I would use one in my bikes  as
For wheel bearing size  could be 25 mm or one inch    But if
The rims right for what you want just swap out the bearings and maybe
    Inner hub spacer

Or buy bearing adapters  to convert the size

    Cheers mate, appreciate your assistance.
I've owned 2 sporty's and a wide glide recently and have had 2 rims and sold them cos I keep getting the wrong rim for the bike I've owned.

    What rims are you buying?
Any 9 spoke or 13 spoke should work,  you just need to get the right spacers. Even later model 13 spokes can have the bearings changed back down to 3/4 sealed bearings.

Yeh the width is going to be an issue but I've got a 06 softail rim on the back of my 87 sporty. Swapped out the bearings and axle spacer for 3/4" items. Other thing to look at is the ID of the brake rotor. I had to get one to suit the larger ID of the newer hub.

I was looking for a Mag Rim for the front wheel 21" ,trying to get away from spokes , hence looking for mag rim. Not keen on a solid either.
Thanks for your assistance though mate.

Yeah the 9 and 13s spokes are mags.
How many spokes is your 21in? Im going to guess its either 5 (thunderstar) or something custom?

I just have a standard front rim  John with a bunch of spokes, not a mag but looking for one.

Yeah what Im sayin is that 21in mags for sporty arent super common.
All the normal mags (9 and 13 spoke) are 19in F. You can get a Harley Thunderstar (5 spoke mag) in 21in but ive only ever seen them on Softails. Not saying it doesnt  (or cant be made to fit) though.

I’m in the process of putting a chrome Rocker C (5 spoke), on the front of my Sporty and a chrome Fatboy (slotted) on the rear.
Would have loved to put the Rocker C rear on too but couldn’t be bothered with the wide swing arm guard conversion etc...

The only thing Ill add to that will, is that while 1in bearings all fit in 2000 to 2007 wheels, not all wheels can be use a 1in axle without mods. 00 to 03 or 04 wheels need to have material removed from the inner hub to fit a 1in axle size hub spacer.
    Only recently found that out..
