Painting tyre lettering

    Hi all,
Anyone coloured in the lettering on their tyres with a paint pen. Thinking gold (or white) to go with my FXDLS. Any pics would be helpful. If I didn’t like it after I was done, what is the best way to get it off. Would mineral turpentine harm your tyres? Any other suggestions that would get it off or better suggestions than the paint pen. Thought I saw someone talking about model aircraft paint?
    Thanks in advance????

Hi there ALR. Welcome to the forum. Must confess it's not something I see or read discussed often on the site. I did find a couple youtube links. Get a lot of asks about the line around the tyres though. Can look cheap if not done well.

Yeah that’s my concern. If I don’t think it’s up to scratch I want to be able to take it off. But not sure what is safe to do so on a tyre. Don’t want to ruin my tyre either.

I done mine with a tyre writting pen bought from Supercheap auto. I like the look of it. I was going to fill the michelin in as well but settled just on the hd. Just take your time with it, maybe hold out for a coffee until after you’re done and you should be fine!

I did this with my ZX10R using a white paint pen, took a bit of time to do to try and make sure it didn't look tacky, looked okay for a while but then when it gets old/dirty it looks less so.
Thankfully those tyres didn't exactly have a long life span so they weren't on there for long time.

I'm going to do this on my Sporty....BUT not actually outline the existing words (Who wants to see "Night Dragon" in bold white!)

I am planning something slightly offensive or tongue in cheek.

Yep can remember the ads  in live to ride and street machine  with Harleys with the white letterings.
Bit like when you had a 4x4 Ute you had to have a set of Hella spot lights on top  so 80s lol
